Big Duas
Allah “Verily your Lord is
Generous and Shy. If His
wants us to servant raises his hands

supplicate
to Him (in supplication)
He becomes Shy to return

to Him. them empty.”


(Tirmidhi)

Dua for
Breaking Fast
Dhahaba al-zama
wa’btalat al-‘uruq wa
thabata al-ajr ُ ُ‫ت ا ْلعُر‬
‫وق‬ ِ َّ‫َذ َهبَ الظَّم َُأ وَ ا ْبتَل‬
insha’Allah
‫شا َء اللَّ ُه‬
َ ْ‫األ ْجرُ ِإن‬ َ ‫َت‬ َ ‫وَ َثب‬
Thirst is gone, the veins
are moistened and the
reward is certain if
Allah wills.
(Narrated by Abu Dawud)
Dua for
Forgiveness

Rabbaná lā tuākhidh’nā in
nasīnā aw akhṭta’na ‫رَ بَّ َنا َاَل تُ َؤا ِخ ْذ َنا ِإن نَّ ِسي َنا‬
“Our Lord! Take us not to ‫َأوْ َأخْ ط َ ْأ َنا‬
task if we forget or fall
into error.“
(2:286)
Dua for Protection
from the Fire
Rabbanā ātinā fī-dun’yā
ḥhasanatan wafīl-ākhirati
ḥhasanatan waqinā ‫س َن ًة‬ َ ‫رَ بَّ َنا آ ِت َنا ِفي ال ُّد ْنيَا َح‬
adhāban-nār
َ ‫وَ ِفي ْاآْل ِخرَ ِة َح‬
‫س َن ًة وَ ِق َنا‬
“Our Lord! Grant us good in
this world and good in the ‫ار‬ِ َّ‫عَ َذابَ الن‬
life to come and keep us safe
from the torment of the Fire.”
(2:201)
Dua for Patience
and Endurance
Rabbanā afrigh alaynā
ṣsabran wathabbit
aqdāmanā wan-sur’nā ʿ ْ ّ‫رَ بَّ َنا َأ ْف ِر ْغ عَ َليْ َنا صَ بْرً ا وَ َث ِب‬
‫ت‬
‫َأ ْقدَا َم َنا وَ ا ْنصُ رْ َنا عَ َلى ا ْل َقوْ ِم‬
alāl-qawmil kāfirīn

“Our Lord! Bestow on us


endurance and make our
َ‫ا ْل َكا ِف ِرين‬
foothold sure and give us
help against those who
reject faith.”
(2:250)
Dua for
Steadfastness
Rabbanā lā tuzigh qulūbanā ba’da
idh hadaytanā wahab lanā min
ladunka rahmatan innaka
‫رَ بَّ َنا َاَل تُ ِز ْغ ُقلُو َب َنا َب ْع َد ِإ ْذ َه َد ْيتَ َنا‬
antal wahāb َ‫وَ َهبْ َل َنا ِمن لَّدُنكَ رَ ْح َم ًة ِإنَّك‬
“Our Lord! Let not our hearts ُ‫نت ا ْلوَ َّهاب‬ َ ‫َأ‬
deviate from the truth after You
have guided us, and bestow upon
us mercy from Your grace. Verily
You are the Giver of bounties
without measure.“
(3:8)
Dua asking Allah
to be among the
Righteous

Rabbanā lā taj’alnā ‫رَ بَّ َنا َاَل َت ْج َع ْل َنا مَعَ ا ْل َقوْ ِم‬
ma’al-qawmi-zālimīn
َ‫الظَّا ِل ِمين‬
“Our Lord! Place us not
among the people who
have been guilty of
wrongdoing.”
(7:47)
Dua asking for
Good Spouses and
Children
Rabbanā hab lanā min
azwājinā wadhurriyyātinā ‫رَ بَّ َنا َهبْ َل َنا ِمنْ َأزْ وَ ا ِج َنا‬
qurrata a’yunin waj ’alnā
lil’muttaqīna imāman ْ َ‫وَ ُذ ِرّ يَّا ِت َنا ُقرَّ َة َأعْ ي ٍُن و‬
‫اج َع ْل َنا‬
“Our Lord! Grant that our
‫ِل ْل ُمتَّ ِقينَ ِإمَامًا‬
spouses and our offspring
be a comfort to our eyes,
and give us the grace to lead
those who are conscious of
You.“ (25:74)
Dua for Ease
Rabbanā walā tuḥhammil’nā mā
lā tāqata lanā bihi wa’fu annā
wagh’fir lanā war’hamnā ‫رَ بَّ َنا وَ َاَل تُ َح ِّم ْل َنا مَا َاَل طَا َق َة‬
anta mawlānā fan-sur’nā alāl
qawmil kāfirīn ‫اغ ِفرْ َل َنا‬
ْ َ‫َل َنا ِب ِه وَ اعْ فُ عَ نَّا و‬
“Our Lord! Impose not on us ‫نت مَوْ َاَل َنا َفا ْنصُ رْ َنا‬ َ ‫وَ ارْ َحمْ َنا َأ‬
that which we have not the
strength to bear, grant us
َ‫عَ َلى ا ْل َقوْ ِم ا ْل َكا ِف ِرين‬
forgiveness and have mercy on
us. You are our Protector. Help
us against those who deny
the truth.” (2:286)
Dua for
Purification
Rabbanā fagh’fir lanā
dhunūbanā wakaffir ʿannā
sayyiātinā watawaffanā ْ‫اغ ِفرْ َل َنا ُذنُو َب َنا وَ َك ِّفر‬ ْ ‫رَ بَّ َنا َف‬
ma’al-abrār
َ‫سيِّ َئا ِت َنا وَ َتوَ َّف َنا مَع‬
َ ‫عَ نَّا‬
“Our Lord, so forgive us our
َ
sins and remove from us our ِ َ‫ْاأْلبْر‬
‫ار‬
misdeeds and cause us to die
with the righteous. “
(3:193)
Dua when
in Need
Rabbi innī limā anzalta
ilayya min khayrin faqīrun ‫ي‬ َ ‫ب ِإ ِنّي ِلمَا َأ ْنزَ ْل‬
َّ ‫ت ِإ َل‬ ِ ّ َ‫ر‬
“My Lord, I am truly in need
of whatever blessing You
ٌ‫ِمنْ خَ ي ٍْر َف ِقير‬
may send down for me.”
(28:24)
