RULES FOR ELOCUTION COMPETITION

ELOCUTION

The subject for Elocution shall be as per the Circular for each category.

 Language shall be English, Hindi or Malayalam. Mixing of languages will disqualify


the participant.

 Participants must come prepared with both the above topics for elocution. Out of
these two topics, one topic would be picked through lots.

 It will be the same topic for all participants.

 Order of participants will be selected by lot.

 Elocution participants will be at separate location and the selected topic will be
given to the participant 5 min before his/her turn to speak.

 After the lot is picked, phone or any other means of communication with anyone
will not be allowed till his/her turn is completed.

 Warning bell at 4 Minutes.

 Final bell will ring on completion of 5 minutes.

 The participant gets 20 seconds grace time to complete the speech.

 In the event of the participant exceeding 30 seconds after their stipulated time/
final bell, 0.50 marks will be reduced. Further 0.50 marks will be reduced for
every additional 30 seconds.

 All participants are instructed NOT to announce their name.

Judging/Evaluation criteria: Total marks: 30

Subject matter –10 Marks;

Presentation –10 Marks


(Clarity, Expression, Stage Boldness, References etc.)

Language –10 marks
