Dr. Rama is a Multi-potentialite, highly accomplished result-oriented technology and business

leader with geek credentials spanning three decades. Recognized Expert in the Industry with a
wide variety of knowledge and skills in various areas of engineering research and innovation,
product design, business strategy, and the arts. Started a career as a hardware engineer and
switch to software. Worked with many global leading companies in multiple domains such as
Telecom, Auto, Aerospace, Semiconductors, etc., leading to a cumulative business of more than
$500M in 20+years. Specialized with vast experience in multiple technology fields such as AI, ML,
CV, Robotics, Intelligent Networks, HCI, Embedded and Systems Engineering and its application
in umpteen domains such as Auto, Aerospace, Healthcare, Media, Utilities, etc. An ‘intrapreneur’
within Wipro, established multiple research and innovation consortia with the likes of the Indian
Institute of Science, Boeing, etc., and conceptualized, delivered cutting-edge products and
services.
Also, a social entrepreneur, worked extensively to revive ancient Indian heritage – the arts and
culture both tangible and intangible artefacts.
In 2007, Dr. Rama was honored by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India with the prestigious
‘Vyas Samman’, a national award for his work in restoring ancient knowledge systems. As a TED
speaker, Dr. Rama demonstrated live for the first time in the world a ‘Mixed-Reality’ on the global
platform in 2009.

Wipod 2.0 – next-gen AV. It included complete product styling, interaction, EV power train,
skateboard chassis design. Other systems are AV stack, SDV-in-a-box simulator, MLops platform
for Autonomous.
I have created multiple co-creation consortia with our customers and academia and have
mentored my students and mentees to create successful start-ups (4 successful) in the last 10
years.
I have also created non-profits for using tech to resurrect Indian arts and heritage especially the
knowledge heritage of India. I have designed and built robotic scanners for digitizing ancient
manuscripts and have created facilities with PPP models to help build capacities and protect for
posterity. My works have been featured in leading international magazines and news media. I
have created new businesses in Wipro by using the knowledge I built-in working with non-profits.
I work and volunteer with IEEE, UL, and occasionally with IxDA, IDF. I also actively work with Social Entrepreneur
Mahabharata Research Foundation.

Building proficiency in multiple fields of tech, design and the arts has come with a lot of passion, child-like curiosity, Systems & Critical thinking that
were built brick by brick over several decades since childhood. Dr. Rama is an artist – can sketch, paint and sculpt. Learned Indian bronze
Iconography traditionally under tutelage of a National award winning artisan for 2 years. Dr. Rama has digitized more than a million ancient
manuscripts of India, especially medical manuscripts of Tamil Nadu. Dr. Rama co-founded a non-profit called Mahabharata Research Foundation
in 1997 to pursue research on Indic knowledge systems using technology. This not only helped to build expertise in Imaging and Computer vision
domain, but also helped to bring expertise to Wipro for building new solutions and enabling new business. Dr. Rama is a passionate mentor and a
teacher and has mentored more than 500+ students over years in engineering and design. Dr. Rama has great interest in Indic knowledge systems
especially classic language constructs, logic, literature and Vedanta. Dr. Rama practices rigorously some of the methods prescribed in the ancient
texts pertaining to meditation and regularly treks to Himalayas in pursuit of higher order meaning of life.
