Semi Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 10 Quarter 3

This lesson plan outlines a mathematics lesson on circles and coordinate geometry for 10th grade students. The objectives are for students to understand key concepts of circles and solve problems involving geometric figures on the rectangular coordinate plane. The lesson will present the general equation of a circle and have students practice writing circle equations in general form. It includes preparatory and follow up activities for students to work on circle equations in groups and independently.

1. Presentation of the Lesson The Equation of a Circle

The General Equation of a Circle

The general equation of a circle is 𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 + 𝐷𝑥 +

𝐸𝑦 + 𝐹 = 0, where 𝐷, 𝐸, and 𝐹 are real numbers. This
equation is obtained by expanding the standard
equation of a circle, (𝑥 − ℎ)2 + (𝑦 − 𝑘)2 = 𝑟 2 .
C. After the Lesson
1. Application The teacher will conduct a group activity. The class
will be divided into two and one representative of each
group will pick one folded paper which had item
numbers that they needed to be solved in 10 minutes.
After solving, the group will select a representative to
present their work on class.
