1 Grammar Review
Aims: To review and practise grammar from the unit.
Time: 15–20 minutes
Materials: 1 handout for each student

Exercise 1
• Give each student a handout and ask them to work
individually or in pairs to do the exercise.
• Students choose the correct words so that the
sentences are true for them.
• Check answers with the class.

Exercise 2
• Tell the students to look at the picture. With a weaker
class, elicit some of the vocabulary.
• Ask them to read the text quickly and find out who the
people are in the picture are. Then give students a few
minutes to complete the text with the correct words.
Tell them that they will need to use the affirmative
and negative forms of verbs be, have got and can, and
demonstrative pronouns. They should use short forms
where possible.
• Ask students to read out the text when they have
finished and tell the rest of the class to listen and raise
their hands if they have a different answer. Ask the
whole class to confirm the correct answer.

Exercise 3
• Students work in pairs. They should cover the text and
try to answer the questions from memory. Alternatively,
tell the students to turn over their handouts and read

their answers. They then discuss their answers in pairs.
• Check answers with the class.
