Squeeze Without Tool Engineering Risk Analysis

This document outlines the risks associated with a squeeze cementing job without tools and proposed mitigation measures. Ten risks are identified: 1) insufficient determination of hole size, 2) cement contamination with mud, 3) insufficient plug length, 4) lack of support for the cement plug, 5) cement flash set, 6) incompatibility between oil-based mud and spacer, 7) getting the squeeze string stuck, 8) pulling out of hole too quickly after placing the plug, 9) residue of cement slurry inside the drill pipe, and 10) insufficient waiting on cement. Corresponding mitigation measures are proposed for each risk.

RISK CONSEQUENCE MITIGATION - REMARKS

1. Hole size determination. Potential Insufficient cement column. Attempt to pump carbide.
2. Cement contamination with mud. Cement plug failure. Pump spacer contain surfactants for oil based mud.
1) Place minimum 60m plug length to allow plug
3. Insufficient plug length Plug contamination. contamination.
2) Perform pre-injection test.
4. No support of cement plug. Resulting in poor plug placement or slumping. Spot a viscous pill as a base or use Cement Support Tool.

1) Test Cl concentraton<500ppm.
2) Thickening time safety margin 60~90min.
5. Cement flash set. Resulting in lost well. 3) Test cement slurries as per temperature given by client
with location water and wellsite chemicals batch number.
4) Follow recipe to prepare mixing water in sequence.

1) Provide lab testing to check compatibility between OBM

6. Incompatibility between OBM and Spacer Flocculation or sludge was formed.

7. Squeeze string is stuck. Squeeze failure. And lost well.
2) Control cement column maximum 300m. If workover rig,
maximum 200m.
8. POOH too quick after plug in place. Stripping plug and contamination. Pull tail pipe slowly (30 - 50 ft/min).
