Matrix Extruder Assembly Manual

This document provides assembly instructions for a matrix extruder in 17 steps. It instructs the user to check parts for completeness or damage, assemble the heater block and nozzle, insert and secure various components like the thermistor and heater cartridge, and perform a hot tightening of the nozzle. It also describes adjusting filament tension, installing a fan and silicone sock, inserting the PTFE tube, and selecting the correct thermistor for the printer's firmware. The final steps cover replacing or maintaining the clamp block.

MATRIX Extruder Assembly Manual

1. Thank you for purchasing our products! Please check all the parts form the package for intactness.

If there are any missing or damage parts please contact the seller immediately. Before installation

please check if all the fans heaters are in correct voltage.

2. Take the matrix extruder assembly heater block and nozzle from the package.

3. Using the 2mm hex wrench to loosen the heat break set screw just 1-2 full turn is enough.
4. Extract the heat break out gently

5. Screw the heat break into the heater block from the side with only two holes. Use the 8MM wrench

tightening the heat break but don’t need apply too much force.
6. Screw in the nozzle from the side with 3 holes. Tightening the nozzle by using 7MM wrench.
7. Slide the thermistor into the small hole on the side of the heater block

8. Place the M3 grub screw on the 1.5mm Allen key. Screw in the grub screw until it just touches the

thermistor. Tighten M3 grub screw by an 1/8 of a turn. Do not over tighten the screw. The brass

thermistor cartridge is relatively soft, and you might deform it if you over-tighten the screw.
9. Insert the heater cartridge into the heater block as shown. Fasten the heater cartridge with the

M3x10 dome head screw. The heater block should deform slightly to clamp the heater cartridge.
10. Hot-tightening is essential to sealing the nozzle and heatbreak together to ensure that molten

plastic cannot leak out of the hotend in use.

Using your printer's control software (or LCD screen), set the hotend temperature to 285°C. Allow

the hotend to reach 285°C and wait one minute to allow all components to equalise in

temperature.

Gently tighten the nozzle whilst holding the heater block still with a spanner and using a smaller

7mm spanner to tighten the nozzle. This will tighten the nozzle against the Heatbreak and ensure

that your hotend does not leak.

You want to aim for 2.5Nm of torque on the hot nozzle—this is about as much pressure as you

can apply with one finger on a small spanner.

11. After the heater block cools down you can apply thermal paste to the thin tube of the heat break.

Only a small amount is required.

12. Insert the heat break back into the small hole between extruder body and clamp block until the

flange contact the extruder body. It may take a little patience.

13. Tighten the set screw on the body with 2mm hex wrench with a bit of force (1.5Nm of torque).

The heat break should be firmly clamped. The heater block assembly may rotated by hand with

bit of force but will not static pull out by bare-hand.

14. Place the fan on the heatsink so that the sticker is facing towards the pin fins. Fasten the 2 M3

screws with a 2.5mm hex wrench.

15. Slip your silicone sock over the heater block. Try to get each of the little clips on the top of the

heat block so the sock will stay on better.

16. To adjust the idler tension, rotate the screw as shown in the picture. Rotating clockwise increases

filament tension. Rotating anticlockwise decreases filament tension.

17. Slide the PTFE tube into the collet as far as it will go. Leave the tube at any length you deem

appropriate to your setup. There isn't an ideal length here.

18. The thermistor within this kit is ATC Semitec 104NT-4-R025H42G (select 5 in marlin firmware). If

you are unable to upgrade the firmware of your printer you can use the stock glass bead

thermistor as shown in the picture down below.

Assemble the clamp block for replacement or maintenance

2mm hex wrench

clamp block and M4 set screw

Inser the clamp block into the corresponding cavity of the extruder. Make sure the clamp block

with the counter bore side faced up.

Use the 2mm hex wrench to do the help for holes alignment.
Screw the M4 set screw all the way in the clamp block counter bore. Then unscrew it 1-2 full turn

Insert the heat break back into the small hole between extruder body and clamp block until the

flange contact the extruder body. It may take a little patience.

Tighten the set screw on the body with 2mm hex wrench with a bit of force (1.5Nm of torque).

Try pull the heat block with a bit force for safety check.
