Project Concept
PROJECT ARAL: Access to Resources for Alternative Learning
III. Rationale
Education in the new normal is a challenging task in the country in an attempt to push
through education amidst the deadly pandemic caused by covid-19. The different learning
modalities ()are the following: Modular (Printed), Modular (Digitized), Online, Educational
TV, Radio-Based Instruction, Home Schooling and Blended Learning. For the cities where
modern living is adapted and students have the privilege of having internet connection at
home. Online learning is implemented especially for high schools and colleges but for those
living in rural areas or provinces where internet connection is weak, modular distance
learning is implemented. This is the use of self-learning modules crafted by curriculum
writers with different tasks and learning activities based from the essential learning
competencies.
Driven by this advocacy, the proponent initiated the crafting of this workplan to
provide necessary tools, equipment, and paper-based learning materials (online and printed
modules) to facilitate home schooling of distant learners.
Based on a conducted survey, 2% of the total learners are not yet ready for face-to-
face interaction. Some reasons include learners’ and parents’ preference on Modular
Distance Learning particularly those with cases of teenage pregnancy.
The process owner with the class advisers and the property custodian will distribute
DCP-issued netbooks as alternative for the printed modules. In this case, the learners also
have the privilege to access the internet as additional learning resource.
IV. OBJECTIVES
The project aims to:
1. provide an effective alternative delivery mode of instruction to identified recipients;
2. consistently monitor academic performance through innovative reporting and feedback
giving; and,
3. exercise home learning opportunities with the guidance of parents and other knowledgeable
volunteers.

Learning)
Face to face learning engagement of students and teachers within the school has been
suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has paved the way to the
implementation of Modular Distance Learning as an urgent response to ensure continuity of
education. As we are in the process of adapting to the new normal form of education,
continuous innovations on education through active involvement of other stakeholders as the
driving force for its success. The Department of Education (DepEd) has adopted different
methods of teaching due to the COVID- 19 pandemic and one of this is blended learning
method.
As the school closes for two consecutive years due to covid-19, number of infections
and deaths may have amplified the negative sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and
schooling outcomes of vulnerable learners. This study aimed to measure pandemic-related
effects on young pregnancy and school dropout. 1% of our total enrolment engaged in early
pregnancy. The benefit of distance education is its remedial measure.
The key purpose of this project is to provide necessary tools, equipment and paper-
based learning materials (online and printed modules) to facilitate home schooling of distant
learners and students through the support of stakeholders.
