A Recommended Course of Study for High School Low Brass Students

Dr. George Palton


General Information
• Work on fundamental components of playing such as posture and holding position, breathing, mouthpiece
buzzing, tone, slurring, flexibility, articulation, fingering/slide technique, range, sight-reading, and playing by ear.
Scales (From Memory)
• Students auditioning for honor bands: up to 4 sharps and 4 flats, chromatic scale, one octave
• College bound senior- all major scales, one octave minimum, two octaves preferred
