This document summarizes key concepts in physics including: 1) Galileo discovered projectile motion has horizontal and vertical components. Isaac Newton discovered the law of gravity and acceleration. 2) Newton's second law of motion, also called the law of acceleration, states that acceleration is directly proportional to net force and inversely proportional to mass. 3) Projectile motion follows a parabolic trajectory. The horizontal component has constant velocity while the vertical component is affected by gravity.

Galileo Galilei
- first discovered projectile motion as having 2 components; 1
horizontal motion and 2 vertical motions

Isaac Newton (1643-1727).

- The English mathematician that discovered the law of gravity,
acceleration and motion

The Law of Acceleration by Isaac Newton.

- The 2nd law of motion also known as the Law of Acceleration

states that Acceleration is produced by a net force on an object
and is directly proportional to the magnitude of the force, in
the same direction as the force, and is inversely proportional
to the mass of the object.

- Acceleration is also defined as the rate of change in velocity

with time. It is also a vector quantity having both magnitude
and direction.

- The general formula for acceleration is force (F) is equal to mass

(M) times acceleration or F = ma.

- Uniformly Accelerated Motion (UAM) is motion of an object

where the acceleration is constant. In other words, the
acceleration remains uniform; the acceleration is equal to a
number and that number does not change as a function of time.

Gravity in relation with acceleration

- Objects affected by gravity or free fall also exhibit uniformly
accelerated motion.

- The Acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s²

- It is a constant acceleration for all free-falling bodies, regardless

of their mass and weight.

Projectile Motion
- Projectile is an object undergoing projectile motion.

- Trajectory is the parabolic curve-like motion/path undergone by

a projectile

- Angle is the numerical value in degrees expressing the

orientation of a projectile to be thrown/projected

Horizontal Motion (X component)

- It neglects air resistance

- Has constant horizontal velocity or (Vx)

- Horizontal acceleration is (ax = 0)

- Horizontal distance travelled by a projectile is called range or (dx)

Vertical Motion (Y component)

- Gravity controls Vertical motion (G=Ay=Ag) where Gravity (G) is
equal to Vertical Acceleration (Ay) and Gravitational Acceleration
(Ag) where they all have the same value of 9.8m/s2

- Vertical velocity (Vy) is NOT constant.

- Vertical distance is called height (H= Dy)

Word Problems.
- (If an object is thrown horizontally) (Vi)
