Notes:

1. All elements are assumed to be grade S275 (43)

2. The Rafter Load is the total dead + imposed factored load including the rafter
self weight.
3. The design is based on a haunch length of 10% of the span. Haunch sizes
can typically be taken as follows:

4. A restrained stanchion assumes that torsional restraints can be positioned at

reasonable intervals along the stanchion length, i.e. where side rails are used
to support metal cladding.
5. An unrestrained stanchion assumes that no torsional restraints are possible
within the length of the stanchion, i.e. where the cladding is a masonry wall.
6. These tables are suitable for use where the wind load is based on ground
roughness category 2 with a basic wind speed of up 52m/s. Where dominant
openings exist the results should be treated with caution.
7. These tables can be used to assess the requirements of multi-span frames of
equal or unequal spans provided a suitable valley column is used.
8. The tables are suitable for estimating purposes only.
