Dear Human Resources Manager,


I am writing this letter to express my interest in the ‘Operations Field Internship Program’ that I found
listed on the SLB website. As per the requirements to enroll in the internship program, I am an
undergraduate student completing my second year of degree in Bachelor of Science in Mechanical
Engineering at Texas A&M University at Qatar.
This internship will not only boost my knowledge of how tasks are carried out in the industry, but also
help me gain experience in more hands-on work outside of classrooms. While taking various enriching
courses at university enhances my knowledge in the field of engineering, I also believe in observing other
experts work and getting into more hands-on action which would help me become an all-round engineer.
Even though I intend to join the internship to learn and gain experience, I would like to contribute to the
internship and the company just as much with the skills and abilities that I have built in the past two years
of my degree.
Having worked on multiple extensive projects throughout the course of my two years at the university, I
believe, I have the skills that would be required to be a part of this internship. I am proficient with the use
of AutoCAD and Solidworks designing programs and have used them to design and build an eye-drop
holder with adjustable head strap and nose piece to fix it at a distance from the eye for accurate eye drop
placement. This was designed and built as a team for a course project that was completed with high
accuracy. Having led a team to work on such an extensive project, I got the chance to think outside the
box building on different perspectives and my innovation skills along the course of the project as well.
Similarly, I had the chance to work on another course group project based on water waste in manual car
washes in Qatar. This project in particular helped me build my researching skills, both primary and
secondary, and also helped me work on my team presentation skills due to having presented before a wide
range of audience including people from the industry, university faculty and students, preparing me in the
best way to handle any situation thrown my way. Additionally, due to also working as a student assistant
at the university, I possess the skills of recordkeeping and data entry, which helped me become proficient
at use of Microsoft Office programs.
It would an excellent learning opportunity for me if you accept me into this fascinating field internship
program offered by your esteemed company. This not only motivate me to learn for myself but also to
learn the technique to streamline my skills and abilities to benefit the company I would be working for,
now, as well as in the future. I thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I look forward to
hearing from you soon.
