Developmental Stages in Middle and Adulthood

The document discusses Erik Erikson's theory of psychosocial development across the lifespan. Erikson proposed 8 stages of development from infancy to late adulthood, where individuals face developmental crises centered around developing virtues. The stages include trust vs mistrust in infancy, autonomy vs shame and doubt in early childhood, and intimacy vs isolation in early adulthood. In middle adulthood from ages 39-60, the stage is generativity vs stagnation, focused on establishing guidance for future generations.
