QUESTION 1 (10 Marks)


1.1. A D.C. electric motor consumes 36 MJ when connected to a 250 V supply for 1 hour.
Find the power rating of the motor and the current taken from the supply. (4)
1.2. If 21.847 × 1018 electrons pass through a wire in 12 s, find the current? (4)
1.3. A current of 10 A flows through a conductor and 10 W is dissipated. What p.d. exists
across the ends of the conductor? (2)

QUESTION 2 (14 Marks)

2.1. If the current through a 0.02 M resistor is 3.6 µA, what is the voltage drop across the
resistor? (2)

2.2. Graphs of current against voltage for two resistors P and Q are shown in Fig. 4.9.
Determine the value of each resistor. (4)
2.3. What is the maximum permissible current in a 120 V, 2 W resistor? What is the
maximum voltage that can be applied across the resistor? (4)

2.4.How many joules of energy does a 2 W nightlight dissipate in 8 h? b. How many


kilowatthours does it dissipate? (4)

3.1. For the circuit in figure 1. Find Total resistance, 𝑅𝑇 (4)

4.1. For the network in figure 3, Use Kirchhoff’s laws to determine the currents through
