CONCLUSION

The implementation of the Build Build Build Program foresees a brighter future

for the Philipine Economy.

Through the development of different public infrastructures, the program finds

solutions to lessen traffic and promote connectivity within the three main islands of the

Philippines.

By increasing the connectivity between provinces and the country’s capital this

may likewise reduce the overpopulation in the capital and focus on the growth of

different cities and provinces as well.

By looking at the effects of the Build Build Build Program on the different sectors

and factors of the economy, mainly inflation rates, employment and trade, it could be

determined how this would all affect us now and for the foreseeable future.

Despite there being negative implications for the economy in the short-run like increased traffic that leads to lower
productivity as well as trade deficit. It could be said that these negative implications are just a little sacrifice for the
long-term effects of this program since these long-term effects may outweigh the trouble the Filipinos will
experience in their day-to-day lives. Given that this project is to have the right funding and management of funds,
this will be beneficial for the long-run. Through the development of infrastructures, this will ease traffic congestion
that will increase productivity since workers are not stuck in their vehicles for hours on end. This will likewise give
producers an easier way to transport their goods within the country which could lead to faster economic growth
for the country.
DESCRIPTION & HISTORY

The “Build, Build, Build” program is aimed at achieving a golden age of

infrastructure in the Philippines to enhance mobility and connectivity, as well as

spurring economic growth.

The Build! Build! Build! Infrastructure Program (BBB) was the infrastructure

program of the administration of Rodrigo Duterte, the 16th president of the Philippines.

A key component of his socioeconomic policy, the program aimed to reduce

poverty, encourage economic growth and reduce congestion in Metro Manila, and

address the country's infrastructure gap. Launched on April 18, 2017, the program also

included the continuation of 44 infrastructure projects under previous administrations.

Lack of infrastructure has long been cited as the “Achilles’ heel” of Philippine

economic development.

The BBB Program seeks to accelerate public infrastructure expenditure from

an average of 2.9 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) during the Aquino regime to

about 7.3 percent at the end of the Duterte administration. This will cost around P8

trillion to P9 trillion from 2016 to 2022 to address the huge infrastructure backlog in the

country.

The Build! Build! Build! program was superseded by the Build, Better, More

infrastructure program of the administration of Duterte's successor, Bongbong Marcos.

Government officials have described the new program as an expansion of the BBB
IMPLEMENTATIONS

In November 2019, the government revised its list of flagship infrastructure

projects under the program, expanding it to 100.

It was revised again in August 2020, bringing the total number of projects to 104,
expanding its scope included health, information and communications technology, as well
as water infrastructure projects to support the country's economic growth and recovery
from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of September 11, 2020, 24 projects are still in the approval & planning stages,
while 80 were under implementation.

The “Build, Build, Build” program also includes a traffic decongestion plan that
seeks to build high-standard highways/ expressways, by-passes/diversion roads, flyovers,
interchanges, and underpasses, and widen national roads and bridges.
