Question 23 Which event from the Chapter(s) would you change? Propose an alternative situation/solution. (Minimum 100 words)
Complete
Not graded One potential modification to chapter III of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" involves Dorothy's decision to decline the
invitation to spend the night at the home of the wealthy Munchkin Boq. Rather than accepting the offer, Dorothy could
have politely refused and continued on her journey to the Emerald City. By doing so, she could have potentially avoided the
conflict with the Wicked Witch of the West. The Witch discovers that Dorothy is wearing her sister's magical silver shoes and
seeks to take them from her. By avoiding the Witch's attention, Dorothy could have reached the Emerald City earlier and
possibly met the Wizard before the Witch found her. However, this decision could also have led to a different set of
challenges for Dorothy, requiring her to navigate unfamiliar terrain and face new dangers. Ultimately, she may have still
encountered the Witch, but the outcome could have been different.
