EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Few of the hundreds of microfinance programs inaugurated in the last decade have
proven their sustainability. This is sometimes attributed to lack of a unison platform
to help them manage their operations and payments. (Carlton, Manndorff, Obara, &
Walter Reiter, 2001)

Many times, what you least expect to happen is what happens and what you most
expect (actually knew you would happen), is what doesn’t indeed God’s ways are not
man’s ways. Due to grievances upon loss of a loved one, there is need of organising a
befitting send off to your loved ones.
A bereavement fund is a secure fund that pays out to your grieving ones. These are
mainly organised by a society where money is solicited from the individuals to create
a secure fund that pays off to your grieving loved ones. These bereavement funds are
composed of a management team that mainly run the operations of the fund and the
members of the fund who subscribe to the fund by paying membership fees and also
pay their routine contributions on an agreed upon period. After mobilization of these
funds, the committee is allowed to invest this money in productive investments and
upon loss of a member or his/her loved one, the member is subjected to entitlements
from the fund.
Despite the good work done by these bereavement funds, they face challenges say;
record keeping, mobilization of funds, difficulty in monitoring their investments,
difficulty in recording their entitlements, difficulty in monitoring their transactions
and many others thus creating need of designing a system that understands the
operation of these funds and the challenges they face, these system is intended to
improve on the operation of these funds. The system is called Nepserv Vantage.
NepServ Vantage is Management Information System that enables bereavement funds
mobilize funds from their members through various payment platforms say Mobile
money, bank agents, banking halls and enable the management of these funds
monitor their transactions in real time as well. The software is integrated with Banks
and Mobile Network Operators (MNO) whereby the funds Individual members are given
payment Numbers which they use to make their contributions in the banking halls,

bank agent or mobile money and money settles at the Fund bank
account in real-time.

SASULA is a payment platform which can be integrated with other systems. Vantage is
integrated with SASULA to facilitate payments for paying customers. SASULA is
directly integrated with the partner bank to enable settlement of payments directly
to the accounts. Vantage has been built with a mobile application customized for both
Android and IOS mobile based users. The users access the application via the mobile
application. Equally, the application can be accessed via the web through the Vantage
website. The users access the web on the computer or other devices. Vantage is
also integrated with mobile MNO to facilitate mobile money transactions .
