Musical Notation

Musical notation uses a staff of five horizontal lines and four spaces to represent notes. There are 7 main notes represented by letters A to G that can be written on the staff's lines and spaces. Additional higher or lower notes are written using ledger lines above or below the staff. Various symbols are used to indicate the duration of notes, including beaming for groups of quavers and semiquavers. Time signatures placed at the start of the staff indicate the number of beats per bar and the note value of each beat. Bars are separated by vertical bar lines and contain a specific number of beats as defined by the time signature.

Musical Notation

staff: It's formed of 5 horizontal parallel lines whith four spaces

notes: There are seven notes:

A B C D E F G
DO RE MI FA SOL LA SI
How many notes can we write using the 5 lines and the 4 spaces?
We can write 11 notes

ledger lines:some notes use additional lines called ledger lines to place them
above or below the staff. We use them to write higher or lower notes.
example:

when the head of the note duration goes above the 3 line the
stem goes up and if it goes below the 3 line of the stem goes
down

g or treble clef: It's a symbol that can be placed at the begining of the staff or
can be placed at the second line on the staff. It tell us the names of the notes

Note durations : there're symbols that express the duration of the notes

Beamed quavers / beamed semiquaver : we can write quavers and semiquavers

separated or joined with a beam
PARTS OF NOTE :

Scales : It's a series of notes placed in an orderly manner on the staff. It can be
ascending or descending

Intervals : first of all we have to calculate ( orddinary numbers )

Ascending / Descending
Conjunt ( consecutive ) / Disjunt ( no consecutive )
Simple / Compound (+ 8)
Major / Altered
time signatures: .It's placed at the beginning of the staff, the numerator tell us
the number of beats in a bar.The denominator tell us what kind of note the beat is

the bottom number indicates the note duration of each part

there are 3 times signatures: 2/4 3/4 4/4
2/4: It's mean that when there is a number of notes equivalent to 2 times
3/4: It's mean that when there is a number of notes equivalent to 3 times
4/4: It's mean that when there is a number of notes equivalent to 4 times

2/2 - 2 beats,minim 2 + 2 = 4 3/8 - 3 beats,quaver 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 1/2

2/4 - 2 beats,crotchet 1 + 1 = 2 3/16 - 3 beats,semiquaver 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 3/4

2/8 - 2 beats,quaver 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 4/2 - 4 beats,minim 2 + 2 + 2 +2 = 8

2/16 - 2 beats,semiquaver 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2 4/4 - 4 beats,crotchet 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4

3/2 - 3 beats,minim 2 + 2 + 2 = 6 4/8 - 4 beats,quaver 1/2 + 1/2 1/2 + 1/2 = 2

3/4 - 3 beats,crotchet 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 4/8 - 4 beats,quaver 1/4 + 1/4 1/4 + 1/4 = 1

Tie notes: it conects two notes of the same name and pitch forming one
longer.

Dotted symbols: a dot increases the duration by half its original duration
