Lesson Plan 1

This lesson plan is for a 7th grade mathematics class. The lesson objective is for students to illustrate subsets of lines, including line segments, points, and planes. Students will describe undefined geometry terms, recognize different types of points, lines, and planes, and name identified elements in figures. The lesson involves defining terms like line segment and point, providing examples, and having students practice naming and drawing examples. It concludes with an assessment to test student understanding of key concepts like line segment definition and identifying collinear points.

Content Standards: The learners demonstrate the understanding of the key concept
of shape and size and geometric relationships.
Performance Standards: The learners are able to create models of plane figures and
formulate and solve accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of
polygons.
Learning Competency: Illustrate Subsets of line
Code: M7G7-IIIa-2

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

a. describe the undefined terms;

b. recognize the different kinds of points, lines, and planes and;
c. name the identified point(s), line(s), and plane(s) in a given figure.

II. Subject Matter

a. Topic: Basic Concepts and Terms in Geometry

b. Reference(s): Math Grade 7, Learners Material and Math for Life
c. Instructional Materials: Projector, Laser, Laptop, Chalkboard, Visual Aids,
and Motivational Chips

III. Preliminary Activities (10 minutes)

Teacher’s Activity
 Prayer

“Class, please all stand up for our prayer. Alliah, lead the
prayer.”

ALLIAH: Ou

 Greetings and Classroom Management

Good Morning class. Before you take your seats, kindly pick
up the pieces of paper, and if your done please be seated.

 Checking Attendance
MITCH
Secretary of the class, Mitch may I know who is
absent for today?

Thank you Mitch.

 Review

Our topic last meeting is all about the points, plane and line.
And what they are class?
GRAC
Yes Grace? You’re raising your hand.

Very Good! Other than that, what are the other terms?

One of the students is raising her hand!

Miss the o
Yes, Chin?
skew

Very Good Chin!

All of you are very good, because you really understand our
lesson.
(10 claps for you!)

 Presentation of the Lesson Objectives

Our new topic for today is all about the subsets of line. First
let us identify what they are

Who knows among you the subsets of line?

(one of the student raise his hand)

The line seg

Yes Ryan?

Very Good Ryan!

(The teacher will now post the meaning of line segment)

Line segment- is a line that has two end points
Lin
Please read

Thank You!

Now let’s have an example of line segment

Now who wants to define this line segment?

RICA: Miss
the point A,
Yes Rica? we writ

Very Good Rica!

 Activity: Choose the best answer

Instruction:
 I will show than a power point then the student will
use animal sounds, and I will choose who answer the
question about what I am asking about
Materials:
 Laptop and Projector

1. “We use capital to name the point

Aw
A B C D
Based on the definition, what do you think is the name of
those pointS. REGINE: T

Yes, Regine?

Me

Amazing! Can you think of example an object that could

represent a point inside our classroom?

Yes Michaela?

The given illustrations are example of collinear points

Me

What do you think are collinear points?

ASHLEY: C

Yes Ashley?

Absolutely correct.

 Analysis ( 10 minutes)
Moving on, I have question for you

Instruction
 The question will be posted before the teacher will
choose who answer any from volunteer
Materials:
 White board
 Eraser
A B C D E F G H I J

For the question number 1-4 Given the figure above:

answer the following

1. Name other points which are on line segment AD.

Harvey please go to the board answer number 1.

Let just finish the other question before we check all

of your answer

2. Name other points which are not an line segment AD

Nicole? Please answer the number 2

3. Name other points which are on line DH

Who wants to volunteer for number 3?

Okay Carl, you may answer number 3

4. Name other points which are not on line segment DH

Bea? Please answer the last number

Thank You for your cooperation. And now let’s

check if your answer is right

(clap, c
For the number 1 is this correct?
Hmmmm. Yes this is correct Very Good Harvey.

And for the number 2, 3, 4 is also correct let’s give them 10

claps

 Abstraction (23 minutes)

(Viewing them in a power point)

In geometry, a line segment is part of a straight line

that is bounded by two distinct end points and
KIAN: In ge
contains every point on the line that is between its
is bounded b
end point

Who wants to read that?

Yes Kian please read the presentation

Thank You Kian.

Now, let’s have an example. Who can name this line

segment?

Yes Maria what kind of segment is that?

JAMIR: Y

That’s correct! Thank You Maria.

(PPT present)

A congruent segment is a set of two set of two line segment CARLA: Mis
that are equal length

Jamir can you read the ppt

Thank You Jamir Here’s an example of a congruent segment

Thank You for asking that question, Carla. Points that lie on
the same line are called collinear
ALLAN: M

Is there another question?

So, let’s proceed Allan? Can you define what is ray?

That’s right
And Rays is a line segment that extends indefinitely in one
direction.

Lisa? Can you go to the board and draw us an example of

ray.

MITCH: Ye

Is that correct class?

Is that true Mitch?

That’s right

 Application (5 minutes)
Instruction: You need to determine the length and
answer it in ½ crosswise

Given the points on the number line, determine the length

of the following:
a) AB=
b) DE=
c) BD=
d) DF=
e) AC=
f) DG=
g) BE=
h) CG=

Well Done, class! Most of you got all of the items correct.

IV. Assessment (10 minutes)

Instruction: Fill in the blanks. Read carefully.

1. ____________a line that has are end point

2. ____________set of two segment that are equal length
3. ____________undefined terms in geometry
4. Lines M and R have exactly are common point. This means that line R and M
are surely
5. Describe as the most concept. It has no length, width or thickness
