Staff Packing List

What to Bring to Camp

 Pillow*, pillow case*, sleeping bag* and/or sheets* and blankets*. If you go with a sleeping bag, you’ll need at least a
bottom sheet to cover the mattress. We like to recommend sheets because it is hot here in the summer, but you should
bring a sleeping bag anyway if you might be chaperoning the outdoor living skills campout.
INTERNATIONAL STAFF OR OTHER PEOPLE COMING BY PLANE – if you can’t bring bedding and a pillow due to
space constraints, we can provide them for you. Please indicate on your staff home page that you would like us to
provide these for you.
 Bath towels* and beach towels* (at least two of each)
 Toiletries* and something to carry them in* (like a bag or bucket).
 Bathing suit (2 if possible) – ladies: no bikinis; gentlemen: no “speedo’s” please – they don’t mix well with water polo,
banana boating, or adolescent male & female campers!!! See more at www.sandyhillcamp.com/staff_standards.pdf and
on the staff blog posts about our staff dress code.
 Something to sleep in* (pajamas or T-shirt/shorts) – something that you don’t mind your campers seeing you in!
 Rain gear (and umbrella – optional)
 Sweatshirt* and sweatpants*
 Jeans
 Shorts* and T-shirts* for at least 6 days (IMPORTANT: include one or two pair of khaki or light brown shorts)
 Staff shirts (if you have them from a previous year)
 One or two semi-dressy outfits for our weekly dress-up dinner and cabin photos
 Socks* and underwear*
 Tennis shoes (and hiking boots – optional)
 Flip-flops*, TEVAS, water shoes*, aqua socks, or old tennis shoes that can be worn in the Bay and into the showers
 Hat (suggest light-colored for hot, sunny days) & sunscreen*
 Insect repellent* with Deet
 Flashlight* and extra batteries* – a battery lantern* is great too if you have one!
 Laundry bag for dirty clothes (an extra pillowcase or bag is fine)
 Quarters (camp can provide these on Fridays) and detergent* for laundry (for those staff staying on the weekends)
 Notebook*/ pencil*/ pen*
 Battery operated alarm clock* (there are no outlets for electricity in the cabins)
 Any special materials and lesson plans for activities that you will be teaching
* indicates items that can be purchased in town at Walmart, grocery store, and/or local pharmacy if you don’t want to carry them while travelling

Optional Items
 Stacking crates* or underbed storage boxes* to keep your stuff in – this is better than living out of a suitcase for nine
weeks. Please note that you will share a space underneath the lower bunk is 12” high, 70” long and 32” deep.
 Camera
 Hard-soled shoes with a heel (for horseback riding) and/or horseback riding gear
 Face paints*, funny hats, things that may be good for skits or costumes for the talent show
 Anything for the talent show – musical instrument, balls to juggle, baton, etc.
 Themed, fun dance attire like: Nerd, Hollywood, Superhero, Zombie, 80’s, Jungle, and country Western
 Board games for rainy days, pack of cards* – label with your name
 Children’s books – to read stories to campers at bedtime or during a down time
 Tennis racquet*
 Lacrosse sticks*
 Field Hockey equipment
 Fishing pole*
 Any other personal sports equipment that you want to bring
 Any prescription medicine – this should have a label on it and must be registered with the medical staff.
 Small photos of your family, pets, house, or friends to show to your campers
 Water bottle*
 Back pack or other small bag to take on a weekend trip
