I. Objectives: at the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
 Define intentional injuries and differentiate them from unintentional injuries.
 Identify the different types of intentional injuries and their characteristics.
 Discuss preventive measures and interventions to reduce intentional injuries.

Aggression: is a behavior or action that is


intended to harm, intimidate, or dominate
others.

Domestic setting: is a private residence or


dwelling where people live together as a
family or household. This can include
married couples, partners, parents and
children, siblings, and other relatives who
share a living space.

Deliberate harm: refers to actions or


behaviors that are intended to cause harm
or injury to another person, animal, or
property. These actions are typically
motivated by negative emotions such as
anger, resentment, jealousy, or a desire for
control or power.

Deliberate: killing refers to intentionally


taking the life of another person.

Intentional injuries: are those that are caused by deliberate actions, Listen to

Intentional injuries include:

 Assault: Assault refers to any physical attack or threat of attack


that causes fear or harm to another person.
 Domestic violence: Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive
behavior in a domestic setting, such as a marriage or partnership.
 Child abuse: Child abuse refers to any deliberate harm or
mistreatment of children, including physical, sexual, and
emotional abuse.
 Sexual assault: Sexual assault is any sexual activity that is forced
upon an unwilling partner.
 Homicide: Homicide is the deliberate killing of one person by
another.
 Bullying: intentional and repeated actions aimed to causing harm
or distress to another person in a social setting.
 Suicide: intentionally taking one’s own life

Unintentional injuries: are those that are caused by accidents or


unintentional actions, rather than deliberate actions. These types of
injuries can happen to anyone, regardless of age or gender.

 Falls: These are the most common cause of unintentional injuries,
especially in older adults.
 Motor vehicle accidents: These can be caused by factors such as
speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence of
drugs or alcohol.
 Poisonings: These can result from accidental ingestion of harmful
substances such as medications, chemicals, or toxic plants.
 Burns: These can be caused by fire, hot surfaces or liquids, and
exposure to chemicals.
 Drowning: This can occur in natural bodies of water such as rivers
and lakes, as well as in swimming pools and other artificial water
sources.
 Choking: Airway obstruction caused by inhaling a foreign object or
food
 Suffocation: Accidental death caused by lack of oxygen, such as
from being trapped in a confined space or from sudden infant
death syndrome (SDIS)
Application:
