Merciful. We praise His presence who has bestowed grace, hidayah, and
inayah-NyA on us so that we can complete scientific papers about waste and
its benefits for society.

The purpose in writing this paper is to fulfill the assignment that given
by Ms. Sri Wahyuni, S.Pd.,M.Pd as lecturer in Bahasa Inggris Ekonomi major.

We have compiled this paper optimally and received assistance from various
parties so that it can facilitate the making of this paper. For this reason, we
would like to thank all parties who have contributed to the making of this

CHAPTER I

A.Bacground

Career development is basically needed for private and government


companies because career development is oriented towards future business
challenges in facing competitors. Career development has an existence in the
future that depends on HR because HR must carry out career development for
employees that is carried out in a planned and sustainable manner every year.

In other words, career development is one of the HR management activities


that must be carried out as a formal activity that is carried out in an integrated
manner with other HR activities.

Career development has a very large existence for private companies and
government because career development is a benchmark for employees in
carrying out career development. If private companies or the government do
not carry out career development, the company or government will not be
able to carry out career development improvements.

Career development is a series of positions or positions occupied by a person


during his working period both in private companies and in the government.
Career development as an HR management activity basically has the goal of
being able to improve and improve

the effectiveness of the implementation of work by workers so that they are


increasingly able to make the best contribution in realizing the organization's
business goals.

Career development is not only related to organizational characteristics but


also related to individual characteristics and work discipline. The individual
who plans and the organization that directs. Employee career development is
a formally structured approach or activity to enhance employee growth, job
satisfaction, knowledge and abilities so that the organization can ensure that
people with suitable qualifications and experience are available in the
organization.

CHAPTER II DISCUSSION

1. Career development in business

Career development is a process of increasing individual work willingness


that is achieved in order to achieve the desired career However, of course, the
various concepts, aspects, and processes that surround it are not that simple.
As expressed by Priansa who argues that career development is a series of
separate work activities is still a relationship that complements each other, is
sustainable and gives meaning to the lives of employees.

Thus the issue of career development is also very influential on the


performance and job satisfaction of an employee, of course, with the most
concrete form being financial development and quality of life as well.
Meanwhile, Hartatik (2019, p. 138) provides several definition options that
can cloak career development, which include the following.

1. Career development is a change in values, attitudes, and motivations


that occur in a person because with the addition / increase in age will
become more mature.
2. Career work is a formal and sustainable effort with a focus on
improving and adding to the ability of a worker.
3. Career development is personal improvements made by a person to
achieve a career plan.
2 .Development of career fields in business

The development of career fields in business is divided into 5 fields, namely:

1. Management
2. Marketing
3. Accouting
4. Finance
5. Computer and data processing

1. Careers in Business in Management

Career management is the process of managing employee careers which


includes stages of career planning activities, career development and
counseling, and career decision making. Career management involves all
parties including employees concerned with the unit where the employee
works, and the organization.

In the field of management there are jobs in a company that has a career in
the field of management on a long-term basis which includes:

 Administration Manager

Administration managers generally have the task of coordinating all


kinds of internal company service needs, such as arranging meeting
schedules as well as goods needs for each division and employees
owned by the company.

This position also intersects directly with the position commonly known
as General Affairs.
In general, administrative managers are in charge of meeting office
needs and facilities.

 Marketing Manager

Marketing managers are tasked with creating marketing campaigns and


strategies that can provide benefits for the company.

In addition to marketing staff who will execute the strategies that have
been made by managers, marketing managers also remain responsible
for the success of advertisements and campaigns that have been
planned.

 IT Manager

IT managers are responsible for the company's technology affairs.


Starting from determining the company's technology needs and
planning how to meet those needs. IT managers are also tasked with
developing infrastructure to coordinating software updates. In
addition, as a manager also needs to ensure the company and its
employees work at full capacity.

IT managers also analyze then determine if there are weaknesses in


the system, such as outdated programs or overloaded servers, and
determine if there are any threats to the company's security.

 Financial Manager

In a company, of course, there is a special division that regulates


finances.
In addition to financial staff, financial managers are also needed who are
responsible for the company's overall financial affairs.
Financial managers ensure the company is in good financial condition,
from calculating income statements to handling tax reporting.
 Human Resource Manager

In a management career, human resource managers are also an option.


Human resource managers plan, direct, and coordinate the
administrative functions of an organization.

They oversee the hiring, interviewing, and hiring of new staff; consult
with top executives on strategic planning; and serves as a link between
the management of the organization and its employees.

2. Careers in Business in Marketing

Marketing is the process of marketing something by making people


interested in the product or service being promoted. In general, marketing
is useful for making people more aware of the products or services offered.
More than that, marketing also aims to increase sales so that business
revenue will grow.

Career Path in Marketing:

 Entry Level Marketing

Entry level marketing is the first career path for a beginner marketer.
When you are first accepted as a marketing staff in a company, of
course, you will occupy a position with this one level.

Here are the job titles in the entry level marketing category:
1. Marketing Specialist
2. Marketing Coordinator
3. Event Marketing Specialist
4. Project Coordinator
5. Social Media Coordinator
 Marketing Manager

The main task of the marketing manager is to manage and evaluate


marketing strategies prepared by marketing staff from the entry level.
In addition, the marketing manager must have leadership qualities,
because he will oversee a number of marketing staff from the entry
level. Some job titles in the marketing manager category are:

1. Advertising Manager
2. Sales Manager
3. Promotion Manager
4. Brand Manager
5. Product Marketing Manager

 Director of Marketing

The next marketing career path is director of marketing. The task of the
director of marketing is to analyze data obtained from marketing
managers, such as detailed market conditions, consumer analysis data,
and competitor data.

Then, the director of marketing will adjust the marketing strategy to


suit the business goals owned by the company. Some job titles in the
director or marketing category are:

1. Director of Marketing Research


2. Director of Marketing Analytics
3. Director of Advertising Sales
4. Director of Public Relations

 Vice President of Marketing


Broadly speaking, the vice president of marketing must master three
skills which include: leadership, technical, and business. Generally, the
vice president of marketing acts as the company's spokesperson. Vice
president of marketing is also required to be able to collaborate with all
company staff, with the aim of strengthening the company's products or
services.

 Chief Marketing Officer

The highest career path in marketing is Chief Marketing Officer, or


CMO. A CMO is responsible for leading and monitoring all areas related
to marketing. Then, the CMO will report the results of his work to the
Chief Executive Officer or CEO, and be responsible for the return of
investment that has been determined by the company.

3. Careers in Business in Accounting

Accounting is a process of recording financial transactions that are closely


related to business. In the field of accounting also has several careers in
business namely:

 Public Accounting
Public accounting is the branch of accounting related to the examination
and verification of a company's financial statements, including auditing
and financial consulting services.

 Management Accounting
Management accounting is the branch of accounting concerned with the
use of financial information to help management make strategic
business decisions.
 Tax Accounting
Tax accounting is the branch of accounting related to the fulfillment of
tax obligations of a company or individual.

A tax accountant is tasked with assisting clients in preparing tax


reports, understanding applicable tax regulations, and minimizing the
tax burden to be paid.

 Financial Accounting
Financial accounting is a branch of accounting that deals with recording
and reporting financial information of a company or organization.

 Forensic Accounting
Forensic accounting is a branch of accounting that combines
investigative and financial auditing skills to find evidence in financial-
related legal cases.

 Cost Accounting
Cost accounting is a branch of accounting that focuses on the calculation
and analysis of costs associated with the production and distribution of
goods or services.

This branch of accounting aims to assist management in making


business decisions by providing information about production costs,
distribution costs, and product profit margin analysis.

 Sharia Accounting
Islamic accounting is a branch of accounting that follows sharia or
Islamic principles in financial and business management.

These principles include the concepts of fairness, transparency, social


responsibility, as well as avoidance of usury, maysir (gambling), and
gharar (uncertainty).
4. Careers in Business in Finance

Finance is one of the strong foundations for the growth and development
of the company. Finance can also be said to be the most risky thing in a
company. Therefore, finances must be managed properly by a financial
manager.

The career choice of this major is to become a financial manager. In this


position, you will focus on creating and implementing financial strategies
to support the business existence of a company, including:

 Accountant
 Financial Audit Agency
 Broker Saham
 Tax Consultant
 Finance
 Financial Planer
 Account officer

5. Careers in Business in Computers And Data Processing

Computer is an electronic device that receives, stores and processes data


into information mathematically or logically according to a series of
programmed instructions. while data processing is a series of processing
to produce information or produce knowledge from raw data. Once
programmed, this processing can be done automatically by the computer.
The series of data processing forms an information system.

In the development of a career in the field of computers and data


management is needed by a company that runs a business, especially
during the digital transformation period now only data-based companies
can survive and compete. Therefore, the company uses a data management
system.
Data used by multiple companies:

 Data Engineer
A Data Engineer is tasked with developing and designing data
management architectures and monitoring data infrastructure
within the company. He manages pipelines of large amounts of data
and ensures all data can be efficiently collected and retrieved when
needed. Large amounts of data (big data) captured must be cleaned
and processed before being used by Data Scientists or Data Analysts
to complete their work.

 Data Scientist
A Data Scientist is tasked with processing and processing big data
that has been obtained from Data Engineers to make conclusions that
are easily digested and accepted by all parties easily. In practice, Data
Scientists are also required to find the latest business opportunities
from existing data for the development of companies or
organizations. Because of this, data scientists are often asked the
number of users, possible new business models or new products
needed.

 Data Analyst

Data Analyst interesting tasks are processing data, designing insigth,


making conclusions, visualizing data obtained from Data Engineers.
The results of the Data Analyst work are usually needed by companies
for decision-making considerations. One of the most awaited from the
analysis is the company's potential to develop in the future and what
business opportunities the company can work on in the future.
CHAPTER III

A.Conclusion

In an organization, an employee can plan his career development. In planning


individual career development, it cannot be separated between the roles of
individuals (employees), managers, and the organization. All three must play a
role in supporting each other and encouraging employee career development.

There are several things / factors that affect individual career development, but
can be concluded into two factors, namely internal factors (employee
professionalism) and internal factors (organizational environment, such as
management type, manager, career development system in the organization, and
others).

Career development is one of the tasks of Human Resources (HRM)


management. Every manager must have a managerial system in managing
employees, one of which is the employee career development system.

The better the employee career development system in the organization, the
easier it is for employees to plan their career development.
