General Notes:
 The cathedral will be having a Siete Palabras from 11:45am – 2:45pm. Please note on the proximity

time for set-up and preparation for the Good Friday Liturgy. Thank you for your patience.
 After the liturgy, the crucifix will be laid down on a table for public veneration. We will do the
transfer once you have finished the live stream and the closing of cameras. May we request that
the tripod (on Kuya Ryan’s side be temporarily be placed at the side of the church. We will be
adjusting the first pew to allow people to move freely around the cross and table.

III. General Intercession (Panalanging Pangkalahatan)

This consists of the following:

- 12 intentions
- a deacon introducing each intention from the ambo
- moment of silence after introduction
- The Bishop reciting prayer for the specific petition

This will be followed by the fetching of the cross

IV. Veneration of the Cross (Pagpaparangal sa
Krus)

This is a complicated part in the liturgy.

Please refer to this sequence:
- After the 12th Intercession (Para sa mga
Tanging Pangangailangan), 2 candles,
servers and a priest will fetch the cross from
the back of the cathedral. It will be brought
to the altar covered with a red cloth.
- Upon arriving, the cross will be placed at
the center, flanked with two candles. The
bishop and servers approach (please see 2nd
floor plan).

Please note this sequence:

- Bishop uncovers the cross (top)
- Bishop chants in tone of Pasyon (Sa
Kahoy ng Krus na Banal)
- The people respond (Purihin at
Ipagdangal)
- All kneel
This is repeated two more times (for the right
hand, and then the left hand)
Please flash the sung lines of the bishop
and the response of the people so they can
sing as well in reply.

For the first unveiling, may we request a front view camera angle as a server shall unpin the
cloth from behind
You may refer to our 2022 Good Friday liturgy for the actual arrangement of persons in the
sanctuary.

Once the cross is completely stripped, the

bishop goes behind the cathedra to
remove his vestments. Afterwards, the
veneration begins in this sequence:
1. The Bishop alone, kneeling and
kissing
2. Concelebrants and deacons (by pair)
3. Altar servers, lectors, religious sisters,
EMHC (by pair)

The last 4 altar servers signify that the

cross will be moved to the side of the
table. Please refer to the 2nd floor plan for
the location of the cross after the
movement.

While the cross is moving, MCJ sisters,

will dress up the altar with linen.

Once the altar is ready, a priest with two

candles will go to the altar of repose,
remove the Blessed Sacrament and
proceed to the altar (see floor plan).
Please focus on this action.

The Bishop, proceeds to the center to welcome the host.

V. Communion Rite

With the bishop at the altar table, the following takes place:
- The Lord’s Prayer is sung
- Sapagkat Sayo ang Kaharian
- All kneel after “Sapagkat sa iyo”(no Kordero ng Diyos)
- Communion proceeds as usual. After communion, servers will remove the cloth and candles
of the altar.

VI. Prayer After Communion and Prayer over the People

- The Prayer after Communion is said. It is followed by the prayer over the people
- No final blessing. Bishop and priests leave in silence. They genuflect to the cross before
leaving. The live stream ends.

After the liturgy, please secure cameras

and tripods as we will be adjusting the
set up in the nave to accommodate the
large number of people venerating the
cross.
