1. Course Description

The objective of the course is to impart students basic knowledge and skills regarding Concrete
Technology. The course will provide students the understanding of the in depth knowledge of concrete
materials, transportation, compaction and need of quality control. The students will also learn about Mix
design and laboratory testing of fresh concrete and hardened concrete. Students should be able to
perform field tests of cement, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate. Students gets concepts of various
types of concrete, admixture and Special concretes. Students should be able to identify the importance
of quality control at various stages of concrete manufacturing.

2. Student Learning Outcomes


At the end of this course, students should be able to:
 Identify different types of cement by performing laboratory tests.
 Know the physical properties of fine and coarse aggregates.
 Prepare concrete of required specification.
 Maintain the quality of concrete applying scientific principles.
 Use relevant admixtures for improving the workability of concrete

particular component in which the infraction occurred.

(3) No Network Policy

● Students cannot operate any network enabled devices such as cell phones, etabs, ipads or any other
electronic network enabled devices inside the classroom during the sessions unless specifically
instructed by the faculty. In case you are compelled to carry it in person, you may keep it in the
switched off mode. Anyone found to operate such devices during the session timings will be penalized
as per the rules. No discussion or negotiation will be entertained at all with respect to this.
