Criteria? Criteria?
How will you inspire students to engage with the Big Idea? What visuals, discussions, books,
articles, videos, activities, songs, critique models, etc. will you share?
Group discussion about childhood toys, favorite books, etc.
Watch nostalgia compilations on youtube
Watch Instagram videos from Ragmopandgoose
Share Eric Carle book snippets
Explore playful artwork via PowerPoint
What drafting expectations will you share with your students? How do you hope they explore the Big
Idea and Studio Process during this stage? What artistic process/element are you teaching and
how? How will they explore this process/element?
Students will draft 2D drawings as well as plans for cut outs, they will make decisions for
themselves about what kind of toys they like the most, we explore drawing, cutting and
coloring in this stage.
What mid critique model or self assessment strategy will you use to help students REFINE and
REVISE their work?
We will have a group discussion where each student presents their plans, students will follow
the TAG method: Tell what you like about the artwork, Ask a question about the artwork, and
Give a suggestion about the artwork.
How will students SHARE and REFLECT on their work and process?
During the presentation the students will tell the class about their stuffies and how they
bridge the gap between childhood nostalgia and present day interests. This gives them the
opportunity to connect their imaginations to their concrete physical decisions.
