SEISMIC HAZARD ASSESSMENT

Step 1 : Locate the site using the Hazard Hunter PH Website

Note:

 All hazard assessments are based on the available susceptibility maps and the coordinates of
the user’s selected location.
 Depending on the basemaps used and methods employed during mapping, discrepancies
may be observed between location of hazards or exposure information and actual ground
observations.
Step 2 : Identify the Seismic Zone Factor Using NSCP 2015

Seismic Zone : Zone 4

According to Page 2-188, Section 208.4.4.1, Figure 201.1, the location of the building is at Davao
City, Philippines and it is on the Zone 4.

Seismic Factor : 0.40

According to Page 2-189, Section 208.4.4.1 table 208.3 Seismic Zone Factor, the Zone is 4 therefore
0.40
VOLCANIC HAZARDS ASSESSMENT

HAZARD ASSESSMENT EXPLANATION AND RECOMMENDATION

Nearest Active Leonard_Range Active volcanoes are those that erupted within historical times
Volcano (56.9 KM) (within the last 600 years) Accounts of these eruptions were
documentary by man within the last 10,000 years based on the
analyses of material from young volcanic deposits
Note:

 All hazard assessments are based on the available susceptibility maps and the coordinates of
the user’s selected location.
 Depending on the basemaps used and methods employed during mapping, discrepancies
may be observed between location of hazards or exposure information and actual ground
observations.

Nearest Active Fault Trace : 8.5 Km

Step 3 : Identify the Occupancy Category

Occupancy Category: Category III (Special Occupancy Structures)

According to Page 1-7, Section 103.1 Nature of Occupancy, Table 103-1, Buildings with assembly
room with occupant capacity of 1000 or more.

Step 4 : Identify the Seismic Importance Factor

Importance Factor : 1.00

According to Page 2-185, Section 208.4.2, Table 208.1, the seismic factor under.
-Special Occupancy.

Step 5 : Know the Soil-Profile Type in your Location

Step 6 : Classify the Seismic Source of your location

Seismic Source Factor: A

According to Page 2-188, Section 208.4.4.2 Seismic Source Type, Table 209-4, it is
Type A because it can generate a 7 to 9 magnitude earthquake.
Step 7 : Solve for Near – Source Factor Na and Nv

Near Source Factor, Na: Na = 1.0

According to Page 2-207, Section 208.4.4.3, Table 208.5 the seismic sources type is A and the
distance from the nearest fault line is 8.4 km (Central Davao Fault System: New Carmen Fault)
therefore the Na is 1.0.

Near Source Factor, Nv: Nv = 1.2

According to Page 2-207, Section 208.4.4.3, Table 208.5 the seismic sources type is A and the
distance from the nearest fault line is 8.4 km (Central Davao Fault System: New Carmen Fault)
therefore the Nv is 1.2.
Step8 : Solve for the Seismic Response Coefficients Ca and Cv

Seismic Coefficient, Ca: Ca = 0.44Na = 0.44(1.0) = 0.44

According to Page 2-207, Section 208.4.4., Table 208.7, the soil profile type is SD and it is on
Zone 4, therefore we will use Ca = 0.44Na.

Seismic Coefficient, Cv: Cv = 0.64Nv = 0.64(1.2) = 0.768

According to Page 2-207, Section 208.4.4., Table 208.8, the soil profile type is SD and it is on
Zone 4, therefore we will use Cv = 0.64Na.

STRUCTURAL DESIGN

Building Frame System – Special Reinforced Concrete Moment Frames

NUMERICAL COEFFICIENT, R : R = 8.5

According to Page 2-224, Table 208-11B, the structural system is Building Frame Systems

- Special Reinforce Concrete Moment Frames

Ct: Ct = 0.0731

According to Page 2-215, Section 208.5.2.2
