ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT ON READING REMEDIATION FOR

STRUGGLING READERS IN GRADE 1 USING FLAT

Reading is a multifaceted process that develops only with practice. There are certain
aspects of reading, such fluency and word recognition, which can be learned in a few years. these
basics must be mastered but at the same time, reading comprehensive should be emphasized in
the process. pupils can parrot words on page all day to make predictions about what will happen
next, monitor their understanding of content, sequence or characters, clarify confusing parts of
the text, or connect what they’re reading to their own experience or prior knowledge. And that is
what true comprehension is all about.
Reading makes up twenty-five percent of a totally macro-skilled human, the seventy-five
being writing, listening and speaking. As an activity, reading is considered to be one of the most
fascinating and exciting and enriching things man has discovered (Santiago, 2020). A balanced
reading has four components: developmental, functional, remedial/corrective, and
recreational/lecture.
Roxas Elementary School conducted reading remediation for struggling readers
specifically to Grade 1 pupils for pre-reading assessment. The adviser provided reading materials
for her children and assessed each pupil based from the ability of the child to read. result was
analyzed and reading program were made.

Based on the result, there are 7 pupils belong to struggling readers. Reading Remediation
for Struggling Readers of Grade 1 Using FLAT was proposed to be conducted as reading
program of the school. This program will be conducted one hour per day from November 3-
December 17, 2021, using differentiated reading materials facilitated by the adviser, school head,
reading coordinator and volunteers residing within the community.

II. MEETING PROPER:

1. The step by step procedure and rubrics was discussed to the parents.
2. Open forum was also given to the parents as to give them idea in addressing their issues,
concerns and difficulty towards the new policy.
3. It was agreed that reading remediation will be conducted one hour per day at anytime of
the day.
4. All in all, the parents pledged to support and cooperate with the school authorities in
realizing the afore-said agenda.
