2. Pupils do chain reading. Encourage the proficient pupils to explain the

3. Pupils in pairs/small groups act out a selected scene from the story.

4. The proficient pupils and intermediate pupils do the exercises given on
page 17(WB).
5. The RI pupils (Pre, Low & Mid) do the tasks given on Printable

given vocabulary. They play memory games in pairs or in small groups.

1. Plays the sound of a nightingale and asks pupils to guess the bird. Shows
the video of a nightingale singing. Explains today's topic/story.

reading. Elicits the meaning of the words from the pupils. Pupils in small
groups (emperor, emperor's man, nightingale (preferably low-proficient
pupils), and a narrator) act out the story. (Role Play) (DS: Strategy 3)
ACTIVITY 3. The proficient and intermediate pupils copy the sentences on page 25
(TB)and circle the correct answer. Pupils number the sentences in the
correct order and write them in two paragraphs. Pupils do the given
exercises in their E2.
4. The Remedial Instruction (pre, low & mid) pupils do spelling activity.
They write the words on their mini whiteboard.
5. Teacher takes note of the words which they can't spell. Drill the words
with them. (Printable Resources 23,24 & 25). (RI Strategies: 3,4 &7).
6. The proficient and intermediate pupils do the revision exercises on pages
18 and 19(WB).

1. Write the word "mummies" on the board and initiate short discussions
on ancient Egypt/mummies. Pupils answer the quiz on page 27 (TB)

v=1twZ50cijjw to check the answers. Asks pupils to repeat 7 vocabularies
given on page 27 (TB).
2. Pupils play the "Line Jumping" game. Teacher makes a straight line using
the masking tape on the floor. Pupils stand on the masking tape. Teacher
explains to the pupils that she will ask them 6 questions (the quiz). If the

answer is yes, pupils jump to the right. If the answer is no, pupils jump to
the left. Teacher may choose the proficient or intermediate pupils to ask the
questions from the quiz or the video which they just watched.
3. Pupils in groups arrange the pictures distributed to them (mummy-
making process). Encourage them to use the flow map technique. Pupils
paste the pictures on the manila card/drawing paper and write the process.
Teacher goes around the class to help the pupils. (I-think map)
4. Revises past simple (regular and irregular verbs). Teacher writes the
verbs on the board and pupils write the past simple forms on their mini
whiteboard. Teacher goes around the class to check their answers. The low
proficient pupils may focus on regular verbs. (DS: Strategy 3)
5. The proficient and intermediate do the past simple exercises given in the
worksheet and exercise on page 21 (WB).
6. The RI pupils practice asking and answering basic questions to introduce
themselves (Pre, Low & Mid)-Printable Resource 1.2 &3. Teacher reads
the questions and pupils repeat after the teacher. Pupils in pairs ask and
answer questions given on the printable resources. (RI Strategy: 1,3,4& 7)

number on the dice. The mid RI pupils do the "Four in a Row" activity
(Printable Resource 13). Teacher explains to the pupils how to carry out
the activities.
