1. Review about Charlie's Birthday Surprise 1 (previous lesson).
2. Pupils do chain reading. Encourage the proficient pupils to explain the
meaning of the words to their friends. Elicits responses from the low
proficient pupils to describe the feelings of Charlie (page 22&23 TB).
3. Pupils in pairs/small groups act out a selected scene from the story.
ACTIVITY Teacher pairs the low proficient pupils with other proficient ones. (Role
Play) (DS: Strategy 3)
4. The proficient pupils and intermediate pupils do the exercises given on
page 17(WB).
5. The RI pupils (Pre, Low & Mid) do the tasks given on Printable
Resources (22,23 &24) (RI Strategies: 3,4 &7). Pupils are drilled with the
given vocabulary. They play memory games in pairs or in small groups.
(turn the cards upside down and guess the words).

1. Review the past simple verbs. Teacher plays the audio/video and pupils

ACTIVITY . Elicits the meaning of the vocabulary given on the same page. Teacher asks
some comprehension questions (What has Greg got? What can Greg do
with the crystal ball? What time did Anna wake up yesterday? What was
Anna's project on? Who taught Anna how to play a computer game?)
2. Teacher writes the sentence; Anna woke up at 10 yesterday on the board.
then, write a question (Did Anna wake up at 9 yesterday?). Encourages
pupils to answer (No, she didn't). Write the answer on the board. Asks
another question (Did Anna wake up at 10 yesterday?). Encourages pupils
to answer (Yes, she did). Teacher asks other simple questions (Did you eat
"nasi lemak" yesterday? etc.). Pupils write the responses on their mini
whiteboards. Encourages the low proficient pupils to respond too. (DS:
Strategy 3)
3. The proficient and intermediate pupils do the exercise on page 22(WB).
They work in pairs to write at least 5 questions and responses from their
friends in their E1 books. (Think-Pair-Share)
4. The RI pupils (pre, low & mid) are given phonics Printable Resource
11,12 & 13. Pupils roll the dice and read the words that correspond to the
number on the dice. The mid RI pupils do the "Four in a Row" activity
(Printable Resource 13). Teacher explains to the pupils how to carry out
the activities.
