Student Management system is a software which is helpful for

students as well as the school authorities. In the current system all the activities
are done manually. Its time saving and scalable. Our student management
system deals with the various activities related to the students.

In the software we can register as a user and user has two types of students and
administrator. Administrator has the power to add new user and can edit the
students’ details entered. A admin can add students record, attendance status
with department wise.All students can search his/her basics details attendance
status with their respective roll numbers.

INTRODUCTION

1) Background:

Information Technology has revolutionized the life of human beings and has
made our lives easier by the various kinds of applications. In the light of the
rapid changes with the use of information Technology, there are many tools,
technologies and systems that have been produced and invented. Today, the
success of any institution depends on its ability to acquire accurate and timely
data about its operations, to manage this data effectively, and guide its
activities.

Several forms and reports are used in day-to-day processing of results. A data
management system can integrate these several components hence resulting in
improved and more efficient operations.

Student Data Management system deals with all kinds of student details,
academic related reports, college details, curriculum, batch details and other
basic details too. It tracks some of the basic details of a student from the day
one to the end of course which can be used for all reporting purpose, and all
these will be available for future references too.

Thus, this project is a conceivable effort to brighten or bring out efficient and
effective administration of academic information system like students’
information. It will also help in making the processing of information as well as
feedback faster and also give focus to institution of higher learning.

1.1) Statement Problem:

Information plays a vital role in the development and growth of every

organization. Currently, the various departments manage student information
independently in their own ways. There are no common, standardized process
and program for capturing, processing and storing student's information. This
has kept student information disintegrated in different departments and
information provided to the various departments by the students is characterized
with discrepancies.

The various departments have systems in place to store and process student
data, but the systems are not able to talk to each other. This makes it difficult for
the registrar to collect information of students across departments. For instance,
if the registrar wants information about students with respect to their faculty
urgently, he must go to all the departments and collect the required data. On
occasions where the department is not able to produce the needed information
immediately, the business or activity at that time would come to a standstill. On
the other hand, time is being wasted going round to the various departments to
collect data. This situation is very frustrating and requires smooth operations
and decision-making process.

The problems facing the current manual system are data redundancy, difficult to
update and maintain, inconsistent data, insecurity, difficult to impose constraints
on various data file and difficult to background.

Project Objective:

* Students Management system is a management information system for

education establishments to manage student data.

* It provides capabilities for registering students in courses, admitting students,

tracking student attendance and submitting students documents and fee payment
online.

* Ensure data integrity, privacy, and security in an open-access environment.

1.2.1) Purpose of Project:

The proposed system is intended to make data maintenance easy. The main
purpose of project is to build an integrated student information system to
facilitate easy access of records of students across departments. The student
Database System will allow the management to edit, update and list personal
and academic details of students. It will also enhance efficient management of
student's information.

*Biscope:

The purposed system is to manage specific information of students such as
personal deatails, course details and when exam details etc. It is not Student
Information Management System which has a broader application. It is only
part of Student Information Management System.

The project later shall also be able to capture, validate, sort, classify, calculate,
summarize, store, retrieve, reproduce and commmunicate operational data.
Student information Management system will store semester details, course
details, department details and all the details of students including their
background information, educational qualifications and personal details etc.

2). Literature Review :

Student Management System (SMS) is a web-based application that

tracks current student’s academic information. It maintains academic
information for ready access by office staff, students, their faculty advisors, and
committee members. Instead of tedious paperwork, students will be able to
submit required information electronically, and the departments will be able to
evaluate the submissions with a much quicker turnaround.

The Student Management System has been modularized into following

modules.

LOGIN MODULE:

The purpose of this module is to provide entry to the system or website. Based
on the type of login, the user is provided with various facilities and
functionalities. The main function of this module is to allow the user to use
SMS. This module provides two types of logins —Admin login and Student
login.

ADMINISTRATOR MODULE:

IN this module when the administrator will enter his/her username and
password, then he/she will enter into the administrator page and this page
consists of two following sub modules. Student Addition/ Updating / Deletion:
In SMS each Student is added, updated or deleted according to its branch.
Notice/Attendance/Result Generation: In SMS information about notice,
attendance and Internal result is generated. Fee Detail and Schedules: Fee
information detail and schedule detail are managed.

STUDENT MODULE:

In this module when a user enters his student id and password, then he can visit
all the following pages. Profile View: When the student clicks on this link
he/she will get his/her information like student id, student name, password,
father name, date of birth, nationality, city, address, country, phone number,
mobile number, email. If he/she wants, then he/she can change the profile.
Notice View: When the student clicks on this link, he can see latest notices
released by the administrator. Attendance View: When the student clicks on
this one, the student can get his overall attendance percentage (present and
absent).Internal Results View: When the student clicks on this, he/she will get
the internals result in all the subjects. How much grade point he/she secure out
of 20 he/she can know. Fee Detail View: When the student clicks this link,
he/she can get all the fees structure semester wise and annual fee. The Student
Helpdesk: This helpdesk is staffed by faculty who are there to help you. You
may contact on (faculty phone no.).

3.2) Functional Requirement:

* To register new students.

* To record attendance of students.

* To record the internal marks of students.

*To record the feed details of students.

* To register staff and teachers/employees.

* To register a new user for the system.

* To record the course details and faculties information.

* To provide the routine of classes and time to students.

* To provide event details of extracurricular activities (ECA)

• HTML, CSS, JavaScript:

Student Record Keeping is a simple project in HTML, CSS,

and JavaScript. This is an interesting project. The project contains only
the admin side. The project is for adding the different records of the
students. This project uses CRUD operation for the management system
like adding, deleting and updating students’ data.

• MySQL:

MySQL is an open-source relational database system (RDBMS). A

relational database organizes data into one or more data tables in which
data may be related to each other; these relations help structure the data.
SQL is a language programmers use to create; modify and extract data
from the relational database, as well as control user access to the
database. In addition to relational databases and SQL, an RDBMS like
MySQL works with an operating system to implement a relational
database in a computer’s storage system, manage users, allows for
network access and facilities testing database integrity and creation of
backups.

4) Methodology:

Methodology is very important to ensure that the new system would give
benefits to the institution. The main methodology used to develop the proposed
system is through web and book research. The content summaries for the
analysis from the web and various books.

Expected Output:

Our system will provide a better enhancement in student management system

by removing unnecessary paperwork and student will be able to view their
information from everywhere.
