You are a college student. Your school is offering $2,000 to one student: this money will be used to pay
college fees. The school is inviting all students to explain why they should get this award.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am expressing my utmost interest in the scholarship grant of $2000 that the school is offering.
I am currently taking up BS in Nursing. I am already in my third year in this program.
To be a nurse has always been a dream of mine. I realized that I really have that passion to help
and serve other people. However, my parents could not afford to fund my education but that
did not hinder me to pursue my dream. I did not want to delay college so I had to work in order
to pay for my tuition. Currently, I work as a night shift call center agent and I attend my classes
in the morning.
Despite my situation, I managed to be a consistent dean's lister and was even awarded for it. If I
will be chosen, it will immensely help me especially I will be in my graduate year. I will be able
to focus more in the most crucial phase of a nursing student. As I will graduate with flying
colors, I aim to serve in the government hospital in my hometown because I have seen that
they are understaffed. I assure you that your decision to pick me will not be put to waste.
Sincerely,
Option A: I want to keep my current schedule of 3-hour classes, once per week.
Option B: I want to change my schedule to 1.5-hour classes, twice per week.
I am in favor of keeping my current schedule of 3-hour classes, once per week. Three reasons as
to why this is the option, I chose include I can still have the time to work in the office, be with
my family and have time for my kids and can still bake cakes for my client's orders.
First, keeping my current schedule would work best for me because my work schedule is
designed not to overlap with my class schedule and it has worked out pretty well that way.
Second, having a healthy work-life balance is very important to me. Being with my family is like
sipping the best refreshment drink. They help me keep my sanity. Additionally, I am a very
hands-on mom to my children and I want to be present in all aspects in their formative years.
Finally, I will still have time to attend to my clients' order. I see to it that I can bake and
complete orders as this business in also one of my family's sources of income. My name is also
known in the pastry business so I have to be professional and deliver what is needed.
