GALAXY IOM - Air Release Valve
Release Valve
(Air Vent)
INSTALLATION,
OPERATION
AND
MAINTENANCE MANUAL
1. When air enters the chamber of air release valve and gathers in the upper part of it,
air pressure rises with the increase of air in the valve. When the air pressure is greater
than system pressure, air will make the water in valve drop down, the floating ball
drops with the water level, and release port is opened to release. As gas is discharged,
water level and floating ball rise with the air pressure decrease, eventually port closes.
2. In the same way, when negative pressure generated in system, the water level drops
down and release port opens. Because the external atmospheric pressure is greater
than system pressure, atmosphere will enter the system through release port to
prevent negative pressure harm.
Air release valves are applied to the above systems, because the medium in above
systems is liquid water, it usually has a certain amount of air dissolved in water, the
solubility of air will decrease with the increase of temperature, during the cycle process,
air will gradually be separated from water, and gather together forming a large bubble
or even air column. Because of the constant replenishment of water, air is constantly
released out of water and then form air bags, which make it difficult to deliver water,
thus air release valves are needed.
III. INSTALLATION
1. Air release valves must be installed vertically to ensure that the floating ball is
vertical, so as not to affect the release function.
2. Air release valves must be installed in the highest point of system, which will
increase release efficiency.
3. Isolation valves are better to installed with automatic air release valves at the same
time. To ensure that the system is sealed to prevent water from flowing out of the
pipe when air release valves are removed for maintenance.
