Teacher Notes
These self-reflection prompts have been designed to help students think
about aspects of their lives that directly or indirectly contribute to their sense of wellbeing. The prompts cover a range of topics related to physical, mental and emotional health, such as gratitude, empathy, emotional intelligence, resilience strategies and lifestyle habits. Students can interact with the prompts in a variety of ways. They can write or draw their responses, or share them verbally. 50 prompts have been included in this PowerPoint. There is no harm in repeating the prompts during the course of a school year.

Think about a time when you kept
trying with a challenging task. How did it make you feel? 2
Who is someone you feel grateful
for today? How does this person make your life better? 3
How have you been feeling
this week? What has caused you to feel this way? 4
Think about a group that you
belong to. Explain how you make a positive contribution to this group. 5
Think about an event that
you are looking forward to. How are you feeling about this event and why? 6
How has your day been today?
Reflect on some of the day’s events and how they made you feel. 7
We all make mistakes! Reflect
upon a time when you made a mistake and share the lesson you learnt from it. 8
What does it feel like to be
energetic? Name some activities that increase your energy levels. 9
Think of someone you consider to
be a kind and caring person. Who are they, and how do they show kindness to others? 10
Reflect upon a time when you felt
calm and peaceful. What was it about this event that made you feel so calm? 11
We can all be role models!
What great character traits do you have that might set an example to others? 12
Name someone you can depend
on. What is it about this person that makes you confident that they will always be there for you? 13
Reflect upon a time when you
were surprised (in a good or bad way). Did you enjoy the surprise, or did you find it unsettling? 14
Think about an important choice
you’ve had to make in the past. What did you decide, and what helped you make your decision? 15
Share a time when you couldn’t
stop laughing. Who did you share this funny moment with, and what was it that was so funny? 16
Share a time when you helped
out a friend. How did they respond to your support? 17
List some of the emotions that
you have felt so far today. Try and identify the cause of each emotion. 18
Giving up can be tempting when
things are hard. What could you do to inspire yourself to keep trying when things are difficult? 19
Name a personal skill or trait
that you would like to further develop. How might you go about doing it? 20
What form of exercise do you like
best? Explain how this exercise makes you feel. 21
Think of a time when you felt
anxious. How did your body feel? What did you do to calm these feelings? 22
First impressions last! What would
you like someone to say about you after meeting you for the first time? 23
Reflect upon a time when you
hurt someone (or someone hurt you) with words. How did you manage to heal the hurt? 24
Self-care refers to the way we
treat ourselves and look after ourselves. What are some things you do to practise self-care? 25
How can you show a friend that
you are really listening to them? Describe some body language or words you might use to make them feel heard. 26
Saying no can be hard sometimes!
Share a time when you had the courage to say no and explain why you made this choice. 27
Think of a time when you
made an unhealthy choice for your body. What were the consequences of this choice? 28
Sometimes it is tempting to exclude
people because they are different. Explain why it is a better choice to include others and what you might learn by doing this. 29
What is an activity that you
could do all day long? Explain why this activity brings you so much joy and pleasure. 30
Unplugging from technology can
be tricky for some people! What might be some of the benefits of having a technology-free day? 31
Certain people in our lives can
bring out the best in us. Name a person who brings out the best in you and explain why. 32
Everyone likes to be appreciated.
Reflect upon a time when you helped someone and they expressed appreciation for your help. 33
Think about a friend that you
truly admire. What do you admire about them and why? 34 Sometimes we are tougher than we think we are! Think about a time when you surprised yourself by achieving something when you thought you might fail. 35

Share a time when you achieved something great by working with others. How did it feel? 41

a new skill. What did you learn, and how did you feel once you had mastered this skill? 42

matters a great deal to you. How can you show them that they matter? 47
Sleep is vital for a healthy mind
and body. What can you do to make sure your body is getting good quality sleep? 48
Think of a time when you
disagreed with a friend. How did you work together to resolve the problem? 49 Do you prefer spending time with large groups of people, or spending time with a couple of close friends? Explain the reasons for your preference. 50
Positive self-talk can help us to
