FIRST CITY PROVIDENTIAL COLLEGE

Brgy. Narra, Francisco Homes, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan
Bachelor of Science Biology

I. Nature of the Activity

Name: Tree Planting
Venue: Vicinity of Brgy, Kaybanban
Time: 10:00am
Objectives
1. To engage school in long-term environmental initiatives which will help to save the
environment and contribute to mitigate the effects of climate change.
2. To compensate for the environmental loss in urban and suburban areas.
3. To increase environmental awareness among students and society.

II. Proceedings

The foundation of a healthy life is a healthy environment. And environmental movements such as
tree planting help to create that ideal world. Tree planting helps to fight and mitigate the consequences of
climate change, so it would be a great movement if we do our greatest effort to expand the tree planting
activities everywhere. The aim of this activity is to encourage the participation of society in saving our
environment.

At the start of the tree planting event, almost 15 saplings of different kinds of trees (Narra,
mahogany) are prepared. These saplings are planted at the vicinity of the Brgy. Kaybanban, particularly
in a tree-less land portion located on owned Land of Dr. Estrella Simon. After preparation of saplings,
the land caretaker assisted the Biology Department to the safety sites wherein saplings can be planted. In
the end, biology students placed sticks around their newly planted trees to serve as support to newly
growing plants and a mark that they have planted a tree in that particular location. This serves as a
symbolic mark which they can reminisce in the future and make them realized that they have been a
responsible humankind to nature.

Participants are Biology students, Biology Faculty and FCPC staff. The event is led by Ms. Nilda
Laguyo.

III. Evaluation
The event evaluation was conducted through informal discussions within BS Biology Department.
Further, suggestions and recommendations were shared and reflected in the forum which will be used to properly
debrief the event, as well as improve events in the future.

IV. Recommendations
Suggestions and recommendations include creating more environmental initiatives activities at school that
can help nature. Suggestions also include to find more deforested lands where there is a great need for trees.
