If find there are incontinuity and vacancy, it illustrates there are blocks in nozzles, need to be cleaned
until ink jet to the best state, this is good for observing the printing test and improving print quality.
2, There are two aspects of the adjustment, 1) mechanical adjustment, 2) software fine adjustment.
Mechanical adjustment includes two steps: Interleave Check and Head slant Check.
1) Mechanical adjustment
According to the print head fixing organization, we can adjust the head’s position (right and left, front
and back) and adjust the head to parallel to the printing table.
Figure
Interleave check
As shown above, we use 50~100 times magnifying glass to observe the test picture, make the black
lines as standard, check the position relation of black and other colors, the position relations between K
nozzles and other nozzles on the same line, the position relations between K nozzles and the second level
nozzles. Because K is farthest from Y relatively, if there is a mismatch, we can see obviously on K and Y,
so shall observe K and Y firstly. When K and Y both have 3 lines, K and Y lines should overlap; when K

Head 2
Caution: which we see under the magnifying glass is contrary to the reality. When there are 3 lines, Y
and K should overlap; C,M,Y have 2 lines, the lines should be in the middle of K lines, as shown by
“Normal”, otherwise we need adjust the physical position of the print head.

Sometimes, the print head is bad itself, when we check the Interleave of two rows of the same color,
the printing result is bad, and the 3 lines can overlap K lines, but the other two lines are not in the middle
of K, it’s nozzle’s problem, individual phenomenon.
When the machine has two print heads, there are two testing strips, should adjust the two print heads
separately and simultaneously.
Head slant Check:Menu Advanced mode----->Adjustment--------> Head slant Check -------->Enter
After adjustment of print head’s horizontal of right and left, the front and back sides of print head may
be on different horizons, and we can use Head slant Check to check the print head situations.
Caution: the machine prints twice from right to left and twice from left to right. If the wide line is not
clear, we can observe the thin line nearby. All the lines are formed by drops and it's easy to get the result.
If the back side of the print is high and the front side is low, we can get the result like the middle image
above; otherwise we will see the result like figure3. There will be some individual phenomenon that the
printing results from two ways are the same, now we need to check if the printing lines are vertical to the
slide way, it's possible that the printing table isn't flat, then we can print test lines on other places to check
if the result is the same.
If there are lot malpositions on the overlap, it's error of Bi-Dir.
For double heads, adjust methods are similar. Generally Print head 2 prints worse than print head 1,
because it's farther from the slideway. If the print result is opposite, need to check the print head assembly
or the fixing baseboard of print head. Sometimes, because of the problem of machanical process error, it's
hard to adjust the print results of two ways to the same, and then shall assure one way is good.
Head vertical interval check: The physical adjustment is finished now for one head machine. But for

Testing figures as follows:
Caution: The triangle on the top is printed by head 1, the trapezoid underside is printed by head 2. The
distance between the nethermost line of the triangle and the top line of trapezoid should be as same as the
distance between two lines of triangle or trapezoid. Briefly speaking, we cannot find out the boundary line
of this two shapes in spite of the right extra part, that says the position of two heads are exactly OK, don't
need adjustment.
Generally, after Interleave Check ,Head Slant Check, the two heads are basically on the same horizon
and head 2 just need translation to close head1.
The translation of head 2 would cause the head skew on left or right. Then need Interleave Check and
re-adjust again.
Step Calibration:
Normal Mode:Menu--->Adjustment---->Media---->Print
This is a simple and visual adjustment which only print one row, default value is 4pass, it’s same as
1pass adjust value. Choose the best test image and add default value on its nether value, then get the
final value. Imput the value in the machine, can have up to two digits after the decimal point.
Advanced Mode:Menu--->Adjustment---->Media--->Pass Number---->Print
Under Advanced Mode, we can choose material, also can choose different pass. We should adjust the
stepping value on 4pass firstly. This value will be used on other passes. Then adjust the value on 3pass,
6pass, 8pass, etc of the same material. The stepping value of other passes is adding and reducing on base
of 4pass.
Different material has different step calibration value. While printing, we must make sure the printing
material is the default material of machine.
Please pay attention that on this mode; it will repeat printing 100times continuously. It will print 3
rows on 4pass, the first row is the print result of pass1 and pass2, the second row is the print result of
pass1 and pass3, the third row is the result of pass1 and pass4. This is a print of adding errors. If the
stepping has errors, the 3rd row’s error is the biggest. And because it’s 10 cycles’printing for a ling time,
by this adjustment, we can easily find the stepping problem and check if the feeding precision has
periodical change. It prints 5rows by 6pass, 7rows by 8pass, prints K and M while side printing, if there
are no error with print head physical position, then the stepping direction should be the same. Specially

observe the left vertical strip, check the continuity, if the print head deflects, there are intervals in left
strips and can’t be intact color lump. You can press cancel key to cancel printing; if it’s hard to
distinguish the aligning of“0”, you can observe the left strips and right strips besides“0”, to check which
one is worse, the best printing result is on the other side. And you can print on different wide to check the
mechanical precision.
Caution: If stepping value differs a lot from the reality, you can observe the first row firstly; the
stepping value may need reduce or add a lot. The maximum change value for the machine is 50% until
“0”are aligning well. Then observe the third row’s “0”and make fine adjustment. Stepping value for one
head is half of the value for double heads.
Bi-Dir: Menu Advanced Mode--->Adjustment---->DPI (360/720) ---->VSD (1, 2, 3, 4) -----> Bi-Dir
----> Print
Observe the test printing, find the one aligning well and plus the nether value with the default value
and input the result to menu.
Please pay attention, we need to calibrate under different modes, for different dpi, different VSD and
different parameter. For 360dpi, there are 4VSD Modes, if print head support high and low height, it need
calibration separately. If no high and low function, menu shows high, please adjust the high value, shows
low, please adjust the low value.
Left Alignment:Menu Advanced Mode--->Adjustment---->DPI(360/720)---->VSD(1,2,3,4)----->
Left Alignment ---->Print
Observe every row, the combinations of different colors, plus the best one’s value with the default
value, and input the result to the menu.
In this configure, 2 shows the relative position of one colors’ two row nozzles. Adjust the two row
nozzles print from right to left and align them and form the standard.
The first row of K be the standard K1, all other colors standard should align to K1.
If left row’s nozzle is 1, right row’s nozzle is 2, the above configure shows: K1K2,K1K1,C1C2,
C1K1,M1M2,M1K1,Y1Y2,Y1K1. Please pay attention that, one head has four colors. The 8 lines
nozzles are fixed relatively in position, while physical positions are fixed, under this menu, with default
value, “0” should be best aligned in the printing test. If error is big, it means physical calibration is not
done well. Need do Interleave Chink check and Tilting check again and calibrate again.
For double heads machine, the calibration theory is the same, but need twice testing printing. Make
H1K1,H1C1,H1M1,H1Y1 as the standard, the other places of the color should align to this standard.
And then H1C1,H1M1,H1Y1 align to H1K1. H1, the left head of the machine, should be Head 1; the
right head should be Head 2.
In the testing picture,H1K2,H2K2,H1K1,H2K1,H1C2,H2C2,H1C1,H2C1,H1M2,H2M2,
H1M1,H2M1,H1Y2,H2Y2,H1Y1,H2Y1
H1K2 is the combination of H1K1 and H1K2,print result of K’s left and right nozzles of Head1.
H2M2 is the combination of H1M1 and H2M2, print result of M’s left nozzles of Head1 and right
nozzles of Head 2.
Right Alignment:Menu Advanced Mode--->Adjustment---->DPI(360/720)---->VSD(1,2,3,4)----->
Right Alignment ---->Print
In the above configure, 1(K1,C1,M1,Y1) shows the result of left nozzles’ bi-direction printing; 2 shows
the print result of left nozzles print from right to left and right nozzles print from left to right.
For double heads machine, make H1K1,H1C1,H1M1,H1Y1 the standard, the same color from two heads
should align to their standard.
In the test picture, H1K2,H2K2,H1K1,H2K1,H1C2,H2C2,H1C1,H2C1,H1M2,H2M2,H1M1,
H2M1,H1Y2, H2Y2,H1Y1,H2Y1.
H1K2 is the print result of H1K1 print from right to left and H1K2 print from left to right, which shows
color K’s left line and right line nozzles of head 1.
H2K2 is the print result of H1K1 print from right to left, which shows color M’s left line nozzles of head 1
and right line nozzles of head 2.
No matter it is left justifying or right justifying, there defines two levels standard, the first level is each
color itself, the second level is color K. With these two standards, we not only calibrate the color offset,
but also adjust the distance between the same colors, especially the same color of two heads, and improve
the print quality of pure color lump.
As software supports 360dpi and 720dpi, and have four VSD Modes, under every mode, there are Left
Alignment ,Right Alignment and Bi-Dir, a lot of things can be calibrated, in order to print perfectly, we
suggest calibrate all the issues step by step.
If we only focus on quality and use VSD1 and VSD2 seldom, then calibration on 360dpi and 720dpi isn’t
necessary.
