I chose the video because it gives us brave inspiration through

her words, “Words can make you, break you, they can heal your
soul, they can damage you forever. So, I always try to use positive
words in my life wherever I go. They call it adversity; I call it
opportunity. They call it weakness; I call it strength. They call me
disabled; I call myself differently abled. They see my disability. I
see my ability. “Her motivational speech conveys a highly
emotional message and its purpose is to invite action. It also has
the characteristic of very charismatic leaders and it's useful in
dealing with difficult times or a great deal of uncertainty.
Furthermore, she overcame that fear too by going out in public
and not minding their sympathy. She had always hated being
accepted as a differently-abled citizen in the world. Because
since she embraced herself before everyone else, she no longer
cares what others think of her. It’s the story of a woman who in
pursuit of her dreams and aspirations made other people realize
that if you think that your life is hard and you're giving up on that
because you think your life is unfair, think again. Because when
you think that way you are being unfair to yourself. Muniba

also makes people realize that sometimes problems are not too big, we
are too small because we cannot handle them. Other than that, Muniba
Mazari makes everyone believe that they are not alone, there is always

Volume is a measure of how loud or soft something sounds and relates

to the strength of the vibrations. in this video, the volume of Muniba
Mazari’s sounds is normal and she no needs to shout because she has
a sound system to adjust their voice so that her sounds fit an audience.
Pitch is a measure of how high, or low sounds and is related to the
speed of the vibrations that produce the sound. As the result, her pitch
is lower because in general women and children have lower vocal
cords than men. Speech rate is simply the speed at which you speak
calculated in the number of words spoken in a minute. For example,
Muniba Mazari’s speech generally falls between 120 wpm at the slow
end to 160- 200 wpm in the fast range.

throughout the speech? (5 marks)
The intonation of the speech of Muniba Mazari is first, she voice
changes in pitch and tone while delivering her exciting speech to an
audience. Secondly, she politely naturally uses low intonation when
talking back to the audience. Furthermore, her voices are a little kind of
deep and she has different levels of the pitch in her voice. So, when
Muniba Mazari uses higher intonation when she expresses her
emotions to the audience while slowing and lowering his tone with
either endpoint. Moreover, Muniba Mazari uses falling intonation when
she talks about her real-life story. Lastly, intonation is primarily a matter
of variation in the pitch of the voice.

Explain. (2 marks)

In this video, Ms. Mazari's pronunciations and idioms are not always
those of ordinary 'Anglo' English, but she is entirely fluent and
intelligible. Since she was born in Pakistan, I would think chances are
that her native language is Urdu, but her English is certainly fluent and
at a near-native level. The speech is fluent, which is a strong indicator,
but the accent is a south Asian accent, with the rhoticity which is
common in some parts of America.
(viii) Identify the speaker’s body posture. Does he/she use appropriate
body posture? Explain. (6 marks)

Yes, Muniba Mazari uses appropriate body posture even though she is
a disabled person and uses a wheelchair to move. She is sitting up
straight and looking into the audience’s eye. We also can see that her
shoulders are back and she is not slumping or leaning to one side. As
you can see when she gave her speech, she moved from one place to
another place to make everyone interested. But she is not tired and
makes sure that she is not hunched back. Lastly, she keeps her feet
flat and rests them on the floor.

(ix) What type of space is used in the speech? Explain. (1mark)

Public space is used in this speech because it is probably about 12 to

25 feet away.

(x) Identify types of body language (i.e., facial expressions, hand

gestures, body movement, etc.) in the speech based on these
situations: (8 marks)

Firstly, the type of body language is facial expressions. It is about

mixed-up emotions. For example, the speaker wants to cry because
the incidence or accidents are very strong and even can break her
physically. The second is body movement. For example, a speaker
uses a wheelchair because she was injured in a car accident. Next, the
type of body language is eye contact. For example, when a speaker
gives motivation on the stage, the speaker has eye contact with the
audience. Lastly, tone of voice is another type of body language.
Speaker uses a casual tone in her speech.

(xi) Explain, how body language may vary in the video. (6 marks)

Body language is the use of physical behavior, expressions, and

mannerisms to communicate nonverbal, often done instinctively rather
than consciously. Whether you are aware of it or not, when you interact
with others, you are continuously giving and receiving wordless signals.
As I watched the video, there is body language in the video. Body
language shows how we feel when delivering a speech to the
audience. Sometimes, with the word we cannot express but with body
language we may be able to show our feelings like a speaker. She was
sad about her condition.
