mersion journey.
To my beloved family who had been a big part of this endeavor, for giving me the courage to do
what I need to. For all the hardships, patience, love and support specially to my older cousin ate San-san
whom helped me day and night and encouraged me to do everything that I can and prepare for the things
that I could do in the future. Thank you for always being there for me.
To Mr. Elvis A. Dela Merced, MPA for the support and permission to render my Work Immer-
sion to their farm. And to all the staff in the farm who had played a major part in acquisition of my train-

A word of appreciation to Sir Sanny Boy A. Broca our class adviser for the support and guidance
throughout our journey of being a trainee.
To our dear school principal, Ma’am Teresita P. Loca, PhD for giving us full support to make
this Work Immersion to be successful and knowledgeable.
To my co-trainees, for helping me to face this challenge. For giving me knowledge, techniques
and inspiration to pursue my training.
My success could not turn into reality without these people who help me in different ways. To all
of you who had been with me in the completion of the requirements, I appreciate all of your help.

Lord, I know you have walked this path with me. Help me continue to feel your strength and
overwhelming knowledge as I pursue the future paved by You.
Father allow my introduction to show the need for my study. Allow my work immersion portfo-
lio statement to make a strong point, showing the time I have spent dedicated to learning during my im-
mersion.
Lord, allow my rendered time at the immersion to support my future passions. Show me great
resources from both sides of my work immersion portfolio to use. Allow me the vision to use infor-
mation from either side to properly make my point.
God, I ask that you allow my words to be clear through my research methodology. Help me ex-
plain my purpose for picking this method and how the method I chose works.
Father help me explain and express the fruit of my immersion through this papers. Help me dis-
cover the correct way to list and explain each of my deductions. Use my deductions to help explain my
stance on my portfolio.
Finally, Lord, I ask you to bring my hard work and dedications together. Help me discuss my
short comings, and all setbacks that have been discovered. Allow this work immersion portfolio to con-
clude with a greater understanding of what is the proper course to follow.

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
Work immersion refers to the process of gaining practical, hands-on experience in a particular
industry or field. It can be a valuable way to learn and apply knowledge, as well as to gain exposure
to different aspects of a profession.
I believe that by being proactive in these kind of activities will always be beneficial to us,
don’t just follow instructions learn to ask questions also even the little things that bothers you. Have
an initiative on the future task at hand and do the job even without being told. One must stay open
minded also during this activity because everyone has opinion on there own and we must respect oth-
er peoples’ perspective or point of view.
Responsibilities must also be uphold and take ownership of your work, even though it’s a
mistake you’ve made you have to own it and apologize for the damaged done and then come back
stronger because I believe that mistake are not meant to weigh us down but instead help us realize of
our shortcomings
Work may be hard but friendship and camaraderie will be a big help. One must learn how to
socialize and try to get along with everybody because having a few helping hands during work is al-
ways appreciated. Connections bring about opportunity to us all and we must endure, we don’t have
to be alone on enduring everything because we have friends who will help out all the way.
I know some changes may not be easy but don’t be afraid and take it on head-on and always
move forward to success. By adopting these principles, you can make the most of your work immer-
sion experience and develop valuable skills and knowledge that will serve you well in your future ca-
reer.
Another key aspect of authenticity in work immersion is the willingness to be vulnerable and
take risks. This might involve stepping outside of one’s comfort zone, trying new things, and being
open to feedback and criticism. By embracing vulnerability and taking calculated risks, individuals
can discover their true potential and develop a greater sense of self-awareness.
Ultimately, work immersion can be a transformative experience that helps individuals to dis-
cover who they are, what they value, and what they want to achieve in their lives and careers. By em-
bracing authenticity and staying true to themselves, individuals can create a meaningful and fulfilling
work experience that aligns with their unique strengths and passions.

The mock interview was a great chance for me because finally I can experience the real pro-
cess of how interviews are conduct in the real world. During my interview, I took a time to observe
myself and how I actually responded to the questions for example what my body language is and how
I behave during the interview process because I believe that proper behavior is a must and a plus
points during interviews. This was the first time for me to sit in front of a professional who asked me
question about my strength and weaknesses, at first it was hard for me to answer because I was so
nervous but then it kind off give me an idea of what I will be expecting in my future interview pro-
cess.
Observing myself, though difficult at times, was very enlightening for many reasons. I learned
what my flaws were and I also learned that there are things that I did well that I should be confident
about. Some areas that I need to work on is providing specific answers for example when asked about
my strengths, values and “where you want to see yourself in the next five years” or so. During the
interview I was nervous but when the interviewee asked about my background that I kind of mum-
bled up my words but I was able to go back on track but not fully.
I was asked questions randomly like what are my career goals and future plans in life and
thankfully I have made perspective plans for my future so answered smoothly. Because there was no
job description given it was fun for me because I have some multiple ideas and now I know where I
am standing and what my flaws are. This interview actually boosts my confidence to the top. But then
always prepare yourself for the questions that you know you will be asked, this way there will no is-
sues of losing confidence.

ACTIVITIES PERFORMED
Making oriental herbal nutrients - In a clean glass jar, we combined equal portions of each
herb exactly as the farmers instructed us. Then we stirred slightly the mixture with a wooden
spoon, then cover LOOSELY and store for 6 to 12 months in a cool, dark cabinet.
Making fermented fruit juice - Steps in producing the fermented fruit juice: (1) fruits cut into
pieces; (2) 1 kg of cut fruits weighed; (3) cut fruits placed into a clay jar; (4) 1 kg of brown sugar
added; (5) all components mixed well; (6) covered and sealed jars left to ferment for 7 days; (7)
fermented mixture of cut fruits and brown sugar after 7 days; (8) fermented mixture filtered to
separate sludge from the juice; (9) 1 L of the fermented fruit juice placed in a container.
Putting organic fertilizer in plants - They are easy to use and apply, simply add them to your
soil or spray them to your leaves. No matter how you use them, organic fertilizers add countless
benefits to your plants and garden by providing them with all the nutrients.
Generating organic fertilizer - Generally, the high-quality organic fertilizer granules production
technological process consists of the following stages: production of compost, compost grinding
and drying and granulation.
Pruning and knotting the dragon fruit - Pruning is important in dragon fruit crop production
for maintaining the shape and size of the plants since they have a very fast growth rhythm and can
easily become unruly and top-heavy. Keep in mind that a single, well-formed, robust vine of
dragon fruit plant may produce up to 30 branches per year.
Transferring the seedlings - Handle seedlings by their leaves to avoid damaging the tender
stems. Poke a hole in the new container's planting mix, place the seedling in the hole, and firm
soil around it. Water the transplant right away. Keep the containers out of direct sunlight for a few
days to let the transplants recover from the move.
Planting carabansos, madre de aqua, eggplant, tomato, petchay, and red lady papaya
Feeding tilapias and chickens
Diking - to prevent flooding. When constructed along river banks, dikes control the flow of wa-
ter. By preventing flooding, dikes force the river to flow more quickly and with greater force.
Mixing organic fertilizer - To make easy organic fertilizers from manure, add a handful of aged
manure into a bucket of water and allow it to mix and infuse for a day or so. Giving it a good stir
every now and then. This water will then be ready to feed your plants.
Cleaning water in fishpond - Decaying debris, fish waste, and uneaten fish food accumulate
quickly on your pond's floor. Make sure you clean out your pond regularly to avoid a spike in
your water's ammonia levels. Adding beneficial microbes, like Aquascape's Beneficial Bacteria,
helps your pond maintain a balanced ecosystem.

OJT at FITS (Farmer’ Information and Technology Services) KIOSK, supported by the Agricultural Training
Institute of UNLAD/ Dela Merced Diversified Organic Farm located at Brgy. Cuarenta, San Jose, PDI.
WEEK 1
(March 20 - 24, 2023)
Today was the first day of our work immersion, after attending the flag ceremony it was followed by
a brief orientation and it was when all of us were grouped into two, namely team OPAG: students who
choose agriculture as their course; and team Farmer: students who did not choose agriculture as their course.
I was on team farmer.
We were detailed to do agricultural works like maintaining the fish pen and developed a passageway
system for easy access of the fish pens. We were also tasked to clean the surroundings. We feed different
kinds of animals in the farm like goats, pigs, chickens, etc. We gained more knowledge about the diversity of
animals living in the farm. We went exploring to the area of the farm where some soils were full of earth-
worms which is good for growing plants.
We expected that we will be serving our OJT in different offices which will be in correspondence to
our future chosen courses in college but unfortunately it did not happen, instead we were all detailed at a
farm. It may because our school specializes in agriculture and cultivation that we were detailed in the farm.
But nevertheless, we still learned new and exciting things and knowledge is precious no matter that form it
takes.
Today we dug holes on the ground and put worm manure or organic fertilizers on it and after that we
planted string beans and sweet potato seedlings on the holes. We also transferred some of the fertilized soils
to other areas for the other plants to grow faster and healthier. We also planted some petchay on flower pots
and we transferred it into the garden. We also watered the plants. After cultivating we cleaned the hallway of
the farm.
When nighttime came it was so cheerful because we played parlor games. I was so happy. Working
in the farm was very hard to some of us because we weren’t really used to that kind of chores but still we did
our best and learned new things. We ended our day with so much joy because it was our first time in planting
tomato seeds for ourselves.

We chopped different kind of vegetable leaves then put them onto a container and cover it for a
week, by this method we can identify the result of the experiment if the leaves are dying or decaying inside
the container or if it will produce a foul smell.
We learned today the functions and effects of constructing a dike/dyke in a farm. It protects in floods
specially when the farm is near some body of water. It’s good to conduct an experiment so that we can learn
on what is the outcome. We also learned that chemical-based crop enhancer has a negative effect on its con-
sumers that is why many farmers has alternative solutions for the safety of the consumers.
Today after we did our daily task Mr. Jurem continued his discussion with us and we also continued
with the experiments. Today he focused on the Oriental herbal Nutrient, also known as OHN. It was an or-
ganic approach with a solution, crops will obtain the energy needed to strengthen its immune system, sanitize
itself, and keep itself warm during cold weathers that may affect its growth and quality. OHN is made of dif-
ferent kinds of herbs combined to supplement crops. It can also act as an pesticide or insecticide that can
benefit the crops greatly while making it chemical-free.
On our experiment today, we chopped ginger, union and other vegetables and we mixed them all
then we placed it in the container and covered it for a week. We waited for the result, what will happen after
the estimated soaking time? We were so excited! During our experiment we did a video coverage and after
our experiment we posted the video on the social media. The team with the most reactions on their video will
win 500 pesos. I hope we win!
The experiments helped us to make more informed decisions about our ideas and projects. A com-
mon mistake is that people take their idea and run with it without testing the assumptions behind the concept.
We think we know, but quite often we don’t know, we just assume.

WEEK 2
(March 27 - 31, 2023)
Today was the second week of our work immersion. We attended the flag ceremony and listened to
some announcements at the capitol compound. After that we went back to the farm to do our daily activities,
like watering and nursing the plants. We also planted madre de aqua and insulin, it’s a kind of plants that are
mainly used as food for animals like rabbits, goats, chicken, pigs, and more.
These plant has an enzyme that can also act as an pesticide or insecticide and protect it from harm.
We also nurtured the dragon fruits, we tied its leaves to avoid sliding of breaking of the leaves. Mr. Elvis
also conducted an short quiz for us, the questions were all about our experiences in the farm these few days.
Today we planted some madre de aqua and insulin, we planted them 1 meter apart to allow some
space. Lack of space may result to undergrowth of the plant. We feed the goats today, and did you know that
goats need a carefully balance diet? I did not know that until today I thought they just eat any grass out there.
I also learned that dragon fruits can withstand heat unlike other plants but they cannot survive on cold weath-
ers.
Later at the afternoon everyone did all the activities, we watered the plants that we planted on our
first day. We also dug and transferred the newly sprouted seedling to the nursery some of these are lady red
papaya. I learned that the lay red papaya can reduce the risk of heart disease, support digestion, improve
blood glucose control specially on people with diabetes and lower blood pressure.
Today we attended a program at the office of the Provincial Agriculturist. They tackled about the
program on March 31, 2023. We discussed more on who’s team will make the program. Fortunately, our
team was tasked to make the program for tomorrows activity. Our principal and our adviser will be invited in
the said event. A team meetings provide a space where you can make your team members feel heard, relay
important information, and plan for the future. A successful staff meeting will make sure that every single
team member comes away feeling energized, motivated, and proud of their achievements from last week.
After attending the meeting, it finished late at night, but I decided to go home but unfortunately, I
had an accident when I was about to leave that’s why I have bruises in my legs so I decided not to go home
but rather to stay in the farm with my classmates. Sometimes we face challenges in our daily activities but
still we stand tall to overcome it and that is life.

Today we did our usual daily activity. I watered some plants. Transferred some flower pots to differ-
ent areas in the farm. We also transferred some newly sprouted seeds in the nursery where they can be moni-
tored and taken care of. We also maintained and nurtured the dragon fruit plants, by tying its leaves properly.
We also planted some tomato seeds today. Tomato seeds needs to be kept at a warm room tempera-
ture and must be sprayed with water twice a day and it would sprout within a week, ready to be transferred in
a different area. Cultivating plants and caring for it can bring so much joy and satisfaction specially when
you see the plant that you are caring for flourishing.
Today is the last day of our work immersion and there will be a presentation which is the Immersion
Culmination Program of the 60 Grade 12 STEM and HUMSS with our Immersion Partner- OPAG, PDI. Be-
fore the program started all of us cleaned the surroundings, arranged chairs and tables. The theme of this pro-
gram is “Organic Agriculture: The Way to a Brighter and Healthier Tomorrow”.
Some teachers, advisers were invited and guest. We are lucky and thankful for full support of the
OPAG People: Gov. Nilo P. Demerey, JR., Sir Rico Galinato, MPA, OIC Provincial Agriculturist, Sir Elvis
De La Merced, MPA, Pres. Magsasakang Siyentipiko, CARAGA Region, Sir Edito R. Casido, Sr. Agricul-
turist, Sir Allan, Agriculturist, to Ma’am Susan De La Merced and Miss Sheila Soliva, LIA. We are so
thankful to the following teachers like SHS Coordinator Sir Martiniano Edera for your initiative help to us
and to Sir Sanny Broca, Ma’am Sharmaine Durango-Degorio and others.
We were grateful as students to the Provincial Government Unit to welcome us Desofian in this area
of specialization. We are very thankful to the owner of this farm because we learned more on how to plant
vegetables, they taught us how to properly plant seedlings and how to carefully transfer sprouts, feeding dif-
ferent kind of animals and how to make a dike pathway. Thank you also all the teachers who’s giving us our
trust and confidence to proceed our goals to achieved our dreams comes true.

During my work immersion in a local farm, I encountered various problems and challenges
that tested my skills and patience. In this report, I will discuss some of the major issues I faced and
how I was able to overcome them.
As someone who is not socially active I found it difficult at first to interact with so many peo-
ple. I was shy at first to ask questions and all I did was observe them on the things that they were do-
ing. But because of the friendly environment at the farm and also the warm welcoming approach of
the workers there I was able to build up my confidence and started to interact with other people. And
it’s very fun getting to know each and everyone of them.
Working at the farm was hard and couldn't believe that once I had taken for granted all the
food that I ate. Experiencing not even an ounce of the farmers hard work made me realize that we
should never ever belittle farmers because they are doing an explicit job at providing us quality food
that we eat every day.
Because it was my first time in doing this kind of work I found myself easily exhausted due to
the great physical demands of the tasks given to us. The long hours of standing, squatting, walking,
and lifting heavy materials was taking it toll on my body and I find it difficult to adjust at first. On
my first day after work I was burned out of energy, my body was soar all over but after some good
night sleep I’ve recovered and on the next day I learned to adjust on my surroundings. I learned how
to properly manage my energy by having breaks once in a while and not to overly exert myself in do-
ing everything all at once and just take it easy.
Working in a farm doesn't only require physical strength but also a wide range of intellect,
you must be quick witted and keen in learning various of things. At first it was hard for me because I
was unfamiliar with the techniques and tasks that the farmers were using, I was also easily confused
with the variety of plants in the vicinity that I don’t know which is which. It has hard but doable be-
cause of the help of the farmers who patiently taught me things and given me more knowledge.
Moreover, unpredictable weather conditions posed a significant challenge for us in the farm.
During my work immersion, we experienced a sudden and heavy rain, which resulted in flooding in
some areas of the farm. This made it difficult to carry out some of the tasks, such as harvesting crops
and feeding the livestock. We had to adapt quickly by prioritizing the most urgent tasks and resched-
uling the others.
My work immersion in the farm was far from easy and was not without its challenges, but I
was able to overcome them by being resourceful, adaptable, and open-minded. I gained valuable in-
sights into the physical demands, techniques, and challenges of farming, which deepened my appreci-
ation for the hard work and dedication that farmers put into producing our food.

TRAINER’S FEEDBACK
So far we are very happy that you have accomplished all the task the very beginning up until
the end of your training. It was very enriching at our part that you students have stayed with us and
tried living in the farm and i believe that all of you have accomplished the objectives of your work
immersion. You were able to experience real work environment in the farm such as diking the fish
pond, planting new seeds, mixing fertilizer and many more.
Above all I have not seen a problem with all of your work during the period of your training.
Except when one of your classmate experienced heatstroke, and we were worried during the time be-
cause we tried to prioritize that the students health and safety is one of our priority. We are also
thankful to Dr. Loca, Sir Martiano and all of the SHS teachers of DSOF for partnering with us and
letting us hone the students for them to be ready on their college journey.
I greatly believe that all of you were successful in doing so and i hope that you well use your
learning here on your future endeavors. All of you have excellent acquisition of knowledge and skills
that are expected in this workplace. Again thank you to your batch you all did your assignments well
and we hope that you will achieve your goals in life. I hope many more DSOF students will come
here and experience real life farming.

On March 20, 2023 me and my classmates embarked on a journey for experience. We had our
work immersion at FITS (Farmer Information and Technology Services) KIOSK, supported by the
agricultural training institute of UNLAD / Dela Merced Diversified Organic Farm located at Baran-
gay Cuarenta, Municipality of San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands. The farm was serene and full of
luscious greenery with fresh air and cool climate. This report aims to provide you with an overview
of my full experience during my work immersion at the farm.
My overall experience as a trainee in the farm has given me a new perspective in life and I
have gained more knowledge about new things. It may have been difficult at first but the struggles
encountered has bared fruitful enjoyment and learning. To have exposure in real life work experience
in a healthy and friendly environment is such a bless to me and my classmates.
During my immersion, I was able to observe and participate in various tasks and activities,
including planting crops, harvesting vegetables, and feeding livestock. The farmers I worked with
were very friendly and patient, guiding me through the different processes and techniques involved in
farming. One of the most memorable experiences I had was building the dike and cleaning the water
in fishpond. It was challenging at first, but with the farmers’ guidance, I was able to learn the proper
technique and successfully do my work.
Aside from the hands-on experience, I also learned about the different challenges that farmers
face on a daily basis. For instance, unpredictable weather conditions can greatly affect the growth and
quality of crops. Additionally, pests and diseases can cause significant damage to the crops, and farm-
ers must constantly monitor and address these issues to ensure a successful harvest.
I also learned about the importance of sustainability in farming. The farmers I worked with
emphasized the need to conserve resources and minimize waste. They showed me how they compost-
ed organic waste and used it to fertilize the soil, which helps reduce the use of synthetic fertilizers.
They also explained how they rotated crops to maintain soil health and prevent depletion.
Overall, my immersion in the farm was a truly enriching experience. I gained a deeper appre-
ciation for the hard work and dedication that farmers put into producing our food. I also learned about
the challenges and importance of sustainability in farming. I am grateful for this opportunity and will
carry the lessons and experiences I gained with me throughout my life.

REFLECTION
During my work experience at Dela Merced Diversified Organic Farm, I was fortunate
enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes in a farm, the
general process of how to properly manage organic agriculture, planting and harvesting; as well as
how much work and patience one must have when working in a farm. Another valuable lesson I have
learned during these 10 days, were the many different types of techniques and process involve in
farming, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and re-
sponsibilities that I could perform, as an individual.
Reflecting back to my first day at the farm, it was one of the most memorable days of my time
at work. After being introduced to everyone, I was handed a task that was quite difficult for me as it
was my first time working in a farm, but having such friendly seniors at work made me feel at ease
and confident. They were very open and happy for me to contribute as much as I wanted to, and were
open to any suggestions and ideas. This instantly made me feel comfortable and definitely made me
feel as though I was part of the team.
During the first week of work in the farm, I was overwhelmed by the work and the responsi-
bilities that were placed on me, but with the help of the farmers and classmates, who have had years
of experience in the industry, I felt more confident and supported as I knew my work would be dou-
ble checked and any uncertainties were explained. By observing and learning from them, I managed
to pick up tips and learned different types of skills, from learning to make a dike, to classifying differ-
ent kind of plans. Working on the farm for the first few weeks was enjoyable for me as it did make
me use all the techniques I learned at school but firsthand experience always beats the books because
it’s more satisfying and more knowledgeable.
I realized this might not be the same everywhere and usually some work environment is scari-
er and hard, but I was happy that I had the opportunity to use all of my theoretical knowledge and ap-
plied them to real‐life situations here at the farm. Overall, my work experience at the farm was posi-
tive. I was very happy with the amount of things that I have learned and experienced in the 10 days of
being a Student Farmer with the partner industry. I ended up learning a lot more than I thought I
would be able to in the short amount of time I was working in the farm, and my hard work paid off as
I experience harvesting and eating the food that I worked hard for. I am so happy, and proud that I
have completed my work immersion, and I can now graduate and insure myself as future ready.
