Activity 11. Do You Agree in the Anthropogenic Climate Change
Based on what you learned from this presentation and your knowledge on climate change, do
you agree that the climate change of the last century up to the present is due to anthropogenic
activities? Why?
I agree that anthropogenic activities are to blame for the climate change that has occurred over the
past century and into the present. According to what I've learned, human actions like the
consumption of fossil fuels and the conversion of land for forestry and agriculture can also
contribute to climate change. We initially welcomed the new industrial revolution as a step forward
in our development, but it has since become one of the factors contributing to the unfavorable
climate change that could have a significant impact on our environment and our health. Human
health is already being impacted by climate change. Because of our current climatic patterns,
weather fluctuations can endanger people's lives. The water temperatures are rising as a result of
the heat, which also affects ice barges. Typhoons and hurricanes are intensifying as a result, which
increases the likelihood of casualties and property destruction. According to the lecture, the ice
sheets in Antarctica and Greenland have been suffering a negative mass balance, which is
extremely concerning for humans and may be one of the reasons why other nations may eventually
vanish as a result of sinking under the ocean. This subject, "Ekokritisimo," which discusses the
connections between the environment, people, society, and other factors, was also discussed by
us. Professor Cheryl Burgess Glotflety, who I've known, said in 1994 that "we are facing a global
crisis, not because of how ecosystems function, but rather how our ethical systems function,"
which means that the problem is not with how ecosystems work naturally, but with how human
systems act, which may have many consequences that we are now experiencing in our lives.

Moreover, as I have seen concerning climate change, this problem has a wide range of effects on
both living and non-living things. This problem affects a lot of animals; they have fatal illnesses
and trouble hunting. An illustration of this is the very skinny polar bear that we saw during the
lecture; we notice that it isn't feeding properly because its environment is being damaged by
climate change, which increases the temperature. This problem may result in severe harm that we
don't want to see, yet due to the wrong and impulsive actions that individuals do, there is a chance
that the ecosystem may be destroyed. The best thing we, as individuals, can do is raise awareness
of the problems that our ecology is currently facing. Individuals should be held accountable for
preserving and enhancing the ecosystem. To maintain the environment, we should first understand
how the ethical system works so that we can hold another person responsible for their acts if they
are aware that they were wrong. The ecosystem is essential to human survival and development;
it is more than just our physical environment.
