Operatives must Take 5 before works can commence and throughout task:
1. STOP. Stand back, look at your environment.
2. THINK. How you can carry out your task safely.
3. IDENTIFY. The risk to yourself and others.
4. CONTROL. What can you do to reduce the risk to yourself and others?
5. COMPLETE. Complete your task safely.

Pre start site meeting briefing: All operatives to have been site inducted and have read,
understood and signed this method statement and the associated risk assessment. All
operatives to hold up to date CSCS cards and any relevant certification for plant etc which
they will be using.
All to have relevant PPE to comply with site requirements and suitable for the task’s ahead.
Only suitably qualified operatives with valid PASMA certificates to erect alter and dismantle
aluminium towers.
Immediate removal from site to any person/s in breach of this method statement and
associated risk assessment, unless due to site conditions and agreed with all those involved
and the clients site foreman / representative.

All operatives will wear full P.P.E (PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT)at all times
this consists of but not limited too Hard hats, Hi-visibility vest/jackets, steel toe protected
boots.
All operatives involved are to wear Kevlar gloves.
That all tools are 110 volts and in a good clean condition and are P.A.T tested all cables are
in good condition with no broken external covering.
Certificated operatives will operate all plant and equipment only
All overhead drilling into steel, concrete, use of chop saws the operatives will wear eye
protection.

All work areas to be kept in a good and clean condition with good housekeeping been
employed at all times
All operatives will have been site inducted by MC.
All operative will have knowledge of where the first aid kit is kept and who is the recognised
main contractor’s first aider on site.
All operatives will know the fire access points and fire call/alarm points
All operatives are to have signed the method statement awareness form stating there have
read and understood the method statement and risk assessments

Delivery requirement:

Site storage: Timber “A” frames of adequate strength to the materials to be stored on to
be supplied STRICTLY by PC as agreed. A pre-designated safe area away from other
trades and members of the public to have been provided by PC this area to be cordoned off
causing no risk to other trades and or members of the public secure grounds adequate to take
the weight of the glass and materials strictly provided by MC this area to be as close to the
work face as safe and as practically possible.

Materials: Glass and steel. Heaviest glass panel 350kg approximate

Any permits to be held by operatives and returned at the end of the task or at the end
of the shift.

 Scissor lift
 Mobile towers

All new operatives to attend the site safety induction before commencing any works.
Barriers to be put in place by PC separating our works from other trades and members of the
public.

Fixing of frame work.


The aluminium towers will be erected by qualified personnel only and placed directly below
the working area. The mini crane and operator will be deliver the machine to the required
location and carry out their set up procedure working with XXXX nominated operative,
ensuring all materials and plant are behind and within the safety exclusion zone, adequate
matting to be supplied by .
Working from the aluminium tower the first task will be to drill and fix all the retaining
fixing brackets these will be fitted to the adequate grounds provided, using the crane with
strops the aluminium window frame will be lifted in to the correct position and guided in to
the aperture and then fitted into the steel framing supplied using adequate and suitable fixing
the frame will be fixed secure and safe ready for glazing. That entrance facade will also be
fitted in a similar manner ensuring the grounds we are fixing to be good and solid.

Fixing / glazing.
The glass being delivered on a purpose built vehicle will be off loaded and stored in a safe
and adequate storage area provided by PC. On this occasion we will be working from Scissor
lift with qualified personnel, each piece of glass will be taken from the storage area using the
small crane, each piece of glass will be lifted up in to position and sat on the glazing shoes
with the curtain wall rebate, the pressure plates will be applied hold the glass secure, one all
fitted the decorative capping beads can be fitted finishing the job off.
