This document provides techniques for developing good breath support when singing. It discusses the importance of breath support for a stronger, more stable tone that allows singing longer on one breath. The techniques include maintaining good posture with quiet shoulders and chest, breathing from the diaphragm so the stomach expands outward on inhalation, and practicing slow breathing exercises. It also covers "scared breathing" for performing in front of others, taking quick breaths from the diaphragm without sound. Regular practice of these techniques over time is needed to improve breathing skills for better vocals.

Getting a Good Breath Support (script)

Hi everyone, welcome to my channel again. Today we’ll learn about how to get a good
breath support, but before we get to know about breath techniques let’s learn about the
advantages of having a right breath support. Having a good breath support while singing is very
important. Based on how you breathe, it can make you sound more stronger, and gets you a
good, and stable vocal tone. It also allows you to sing more longer on one breath and this is a
very important skill in singing. If you can sing longer with one breath, you don’t have to breath
again while singing and it will make the sound more natural. If you don't know how to breathe
well, your tone would be muffle and your sound would be uneven, and I will show you how to
get a good breath support today. Let’s get to know about techniques that can improve your
breathing skill.

To get a good breath, you need to have a good posture. Keeping your shoulders and chest
quiet is the first step of developing well controlled breathing. You have to make a conscious
effort to keep your shoulders and collarbones from lifting. It should be a relatively passive
process of letting the stomach drop without lowering the chest while inhaling air. However, it
shouldn't be too stiff. You have to be relaxed, or it can be difficult when you sing. Now let’s learn
how to sing from the diaphragm. First step for it is to find the mirror so you can see your entire
sides of your body. Next put your both hands on the sides of your lower stomach. Take a breath
with your mouth to inhale and see if your stomach expends outward. When you’re exhaling,
breathe out to get your belly back in. As you are doing these steps there should be no movement
on your shoulder or chest. If there are any movements on there, it means you are doing it wrong.
As you continue to train, you will be able to lay a good foundation for more stable and better
vocals.

There is also good breathing exercise called slow breaths. This breathing might help you
to sing longer with one breath. So first, take a breath with your mouth or nose for 4 seconds.
Then hold your breath for 8 seconds and exhale the breath for 8 more seconds. Try to make all
your muscles relaxed during having this exercise. Repeat it few more times and when you get
tired or uncomfortable you can stop.

There might be a time when you should or may perform singing in front of many people,
and it is really easy to breathe wrong at this moment. I’m also the person who is not used to
perform in front of many people and I could say that we definitely need a method for this
uncomfortable situation, so let’s get know about scared breath. Scared breath is the breath
technique you can use it when you are on the stage. It is the breathing skill that you can breathe
from the diaphragm quickly. Here’s how you do it. Stand in front of the mirror and watch for
your sides of the stomach like before. You won’t be able to use mirror on the stage, but you will
still need it to practice and get used to it. Then take a quick breath-in through your diaphragm.
Imagine that you are on the stage, but you can’t make a sound. Be sure not to make any sound
and stay quiet. As you’re doing this exercise check for your stomach to be expanded everytime.
Once you get used to doing this, you'll be able to breathe better in uncomfortable situations.

We’ve learned about breathing techniques today. How was it? It may feel unfamiliar to
you, and it's easier than you think, but you may not be able to sing well because you're not used
to it. Breathing is an area of singing that can be improved through steady and systematic training.
Even if you do it in a short time a day, your skills will not suddenly increase, and even if you do
it steadily, the time to improve your skills can take longer than you think. Remember this and
keep practicing. I hope this video was helpful for you and get you a good breathing one day.
Thank you for watching my video.
