Research Methodology

This document outlines the research methodology for a study on retaining talented employees at small to medium sized firms. The purpose is to address high (35%) employee turnover within two years and determine reasons for leaving. The dependent variable is employee retention/turnover. Data will be collected through interviews and anonymous questionnaires over six months. The expected outcome is insights and strategies for firms to increase employee commitment and decrease costs associated with turnover. An appropriate target group for interviews are working people and young adults who prefer online food delivery due to busy schedules. Their feedback can help Nyka expand its food delivery business and meet customer expectations.

Research methodology:
Before any research study is undertaken, there should be an agreement
between the person who authorizes the study and the researcher as to the
problem to be investigated, the methodology to be used, the duration of
the study, and its cost. This ensures that there are no misunderstandings
or frustrations later for either party. This is usually accomplished through
research proposal, which the researcher submits and gets approved by the
sponsor, who issues a letter of authorization to proceed with the study.

Research proposal to study retention of talented and skilled employees.

Purpose of the study:
To find a solution to the recurring problem of 35% employee turnover
within two years of their recruitment, and more specifically to:
 Draw up a profile of the employees who quit.
 Determine the reasons for employees leaving the organization
within two years.
Research question:
How can be small to medium-sized firms increase the organizational
commitment of their employees?
Scope of the study:
This research analyzes the problem of high turnover of employees within
small to medium-sized firms.
Relevance of the study:
The cost of employee turnover to firms has been estimated to be up to
130% of the employee’s remuneration package. There are both direct and
indirect costs involved. Direct costs relate to leaving costs, replacement
costs, and transition costs, while indirect costs relate to the loss of
production, reduced performance levels, unnecessary overtime, and low
morale. The results of this study provide managers with the means to
decrease the costs of employee turnover.
The research design:
Data collection. The interviews will be conducted during office hours in
the conference hall of the organization at a pre-arranged time convenient
to the interviewees. The questionnaire will be given to the employees to
be completed by them in their homes and returned anonymously to the
box set up for the purpose by the specified date. They will all be
reminded two days before the due date to return their questionnaires, if
not already done.
Time frame:
The time frame necessary for completion of this research project is
approximately six months. During these six months, periodic reports will
be provided on the progress being made.
Selected Bibliography:

and application. Thousand Oaks: Sage.
Once the proposal is accepted, the researcher conducts the research, going
through the appropriate steps discussed in the research design process.
2. Dependent variable: It is the variable of primary interest to the researcher.
Dependent variable is the main variable that lends itself for
investigation as a viable factor.
It is also known as criterion variable.
Dependent variable is the variable that is being measured or observed in a
research study. It is the outcome or the response variable that is affected
by changes in the independent variable.
Moderating variable: It is one that has a contingent effect on the
independent-dependent variable relationship. That is, the presence of a
third variable modifies the original relationship between the independent
and the dependent variables.
Mediating variable: It is one of that surfaces between the time the
independent variables start operating to influence the dependent variable
and the time their impact is felt on it. It is also called as intervening
variable.
In the given model, the dependent variable could be various outcomes
related to eWallet usage or adoption, such as the frequency of eWallet
transactions, the amount of money stored in the eWallet, the satisfaction
with eWallet usage or the intention to continue using eWallets.
Hypotheses can be defined as a tentative, yet testable, statement, which
predicts what you expect to find in your empirical data.
Hypotheses are derived from the theory on which your conceptual
model is based and are often relational in nature. Hypotheses can be
defined as logically conjectured relationships between two or more
variables expressed in the form of testable statements. By testing the
hypotheses and confirming the conjectured relationships, it is expected
that solutions can be found to correct the problem encountered.
A hypothesis can also test whether there are differences between two
groups with respect to any variable or variables.
Six hypotheses from the given model as follows:
a. H1: There is a positive relationship between the perceived ease of
use of eWallets and the frequency of eWallet transactions.
b. H2: There is a positive relationship between the perceived
usefulness of eWallets and the intention to continue using
eWallets.
c. H3: There is a positive relationship between the trust in eWallet
security and the amount of money stored in eWallets.
d. H4: There is a positive relationship between the perceived social
influence and the satisfaction with eWallet usage.
e. H5: There is a positive relationship between the perceived cost
savings of using eWallets and the intention to adopt eWallets.
f. H6: The relationship between the perceived ease of use of eWallets
and the intention to adopt eWallets is moderated by age, with
younger users being more influenced by ease of use compared to
older users.
In this model, the mediating variable could be the trust in eWallet
security, which mediates the relationship between perceived usefulness
and the amount of money stored in eWallets. The moderating variable
could be age, which moderates the relationship between ease of use and
the intention to adopt eWallets.

3b. Ideal respondent for the interview will be working people and youngsters.
As people who are working, don’t be having time to prepare food by
themselves, so they prefer online food order. If Nyka expands or starts its food
delivery, there will be more respondents because already working girls already
aware of the Nyka brand, so they will be some good acceptance from them for
this Nyka’s food delivery. It can easily survive in this fast-growing world, as
people are fond of new things and they are ready to explore the new things. If
feedback from customers is good then those customers themselves grow this
food delivery, as they can promote to others.
We can interact with working people for this new food delivery from Nyka by
asking some questions like what the expectations are, what will you prefer
more, and what can be add into it etc. Responses are different from different
people, from them we can summarize what customers will expect and their
response for this new food delivery from Nyka.
