This lesson plan teaches students about different types of quadrilaterals (four-sided shapes): squares, rectangles, parallelograms, trapezoids, and rhombuses. The teacher reviews triangles with students and motivates cleanliness. Through presentation, modeling, guided practice, and evaluation, the teacher defines and provides examples of each quadrilateral type, has students identify shapes and write their names, and assigns students to create artwork using quadrilaterals made from recycled materials.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS IV

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
Identifies and describe the different kinds of quadrilaterals: Square, rectangle,
parallelogram, trapeziod and rhombus.
A. Content Standards: Demonstrate understanding of the concept of parallel and
perpendicular lines, triangles, and quadrilaterals.
B. Peformance Standards: Construct and describe parallel and perpendicular lines,
angles, triangles, and quadrilaterals in designs, drawing and models.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives
Cognitive: Identifies and describes the different kinds of quadrilaterals: Square,
rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid, and rhombus. M4GE-IIIc17
Psychomotor: Show a pictures of different kinds of quadrilaterals.
Affective: Demostrate proper Hygiene.

II. LEARNING CONTENT:

Identifying and describing different Quadrilaterals
Prequisite concepts and skills:
Identifying and describing triangles
References:
1. Teacher's Guide pages 216-219
2. Learner's Materials Pages 164-165

Materials:
Manila papers, pictures, flashcards, packaging tape and pentil pen

Values Focus:
Cleanliness

III PROCEDURE:
TEACHER'S ACTIVITY PUPILS ACTIVITY
A. Preparatory Activity
1. Daily Routine
- Prayer Our Father…..
- Greeting the class Good Morning Sir,
- Checking Attendance
Its every body present today? Yes,teacher
2. Drill
I have a picture

Can you identify the triangles shown in

the picture? Yes, teacher

Now, let's the check if how many

triangles found in the picture
10 triagles teacher
3. Review
Ok kids, Let's have a review of
our lesson about triangles.
Answers it with YES or NO
Are you ready? Yes, teacher.
1. Does an isosceles triangle have 2 equals
side? Yes, An isosceles triangle has 2 equal side
2.Does an equilaterals triangle have equals
side? Yes, an equalateral triangle has 3 equal side
3.Does a right triangle have the right angle? Yes, an rigth triangle has a rigth angle which
measure 90C
4. Motivation
Children, are you taking a bath
everyday? Yes, teacher
why we need to take a bath
everyday? if we take a bath everyday it makes us clean
After taking a bath, how do you
dry your wet body? We dried our wet body by using a towel.
What it is shape? Rectangle

B. Lesson Proper

1.0 Presentation
Now, I have a flashcards
I want you to read this clearly.
Please read.

Rectangle Rectangle
Square Square
Rhombus Rhombus
Parallelogram Parallelogram
Trapeziod Trapeziod

Are you familiar of this figures? Yes, teacher

What do you call these figures? These figures called

Quadrilaterals
1.1 Modeling
Now, this time we are going to learn about
quadrilaterals. As we go on with our lesson
I want you to listen and observe carefully so
that you can understand what the lesson is
all about. Are you all ready? Yes, teacher.

As we look at the word Quadrilateral, the

first four letters are quad, it means four
lateral main side, it means the
Quadrilateral are polygons with four sides
and four angle.
Here are the different kinds of Quadrilateral

1. Parallelogram - It is quadrilateral whose

Opposite sides are parallel and equal.
Examples:
2. Rectangle- is a parallelogram whose
opposite sides are parallel and equal in
length and also has a four right angles.
Examples:

3. Trapezoid- it is a quadrilateral that has

exactly one pair of parallel sides.
Examples:

4. Square - the square share the characteristics

of rectangle and rhombus. It has four equal
sides and four right angles.
Example:

5. Rhombus- is a parallelogram with four sides.

It has no right angle
Example:

So, lets go a head and lets give it a try now.

1. What polygon that is a quadrilateral has 4
rigth angles and all sides are equal?
*That's right! It's a square. Square
2. It is a parallelogram whose
opposite sides are parallel and equal in
length and also has a four right angles.
*And that would be a rectangle Rectangle
3. Parallelogram - It is quadrilateral whose
Opposite sides are parallel and equal.
*And that would be a parallelogram Parallelogram
4. It is a parallelogram with four sides.
It has no right angle
* And tha would be a rhombus Rhombus
5. It is a quadrilateral that has
exactly one pair of parallel sides.
*And that would be a trapezoid Trapezoid

1.2 Guided Practice

This time we will have a group activity. Are

you ready? Yes , Teacher
Activity 1
Direction: write the name of the following quadriletarels:

Square

Rhumbos

Rectangle

Trapezoid

Parallelogram

Activity 2
Direction: Draw the following
quadrilaterals listed below:
1. Rhombus

2. Trapezoid

3. Square

4. Parallelogram

5. Rectangle
- sides are not equal
1.3 Summarizing the lesson:
A quadrilateral is apolygon with 4 sides. It
can be classified as a square , a rhombus, a
rectangle,a parallelogram and a trapezoid.

* Now, Children there is any question about

our topic for today? No, teacher
1.4 Our next activity is entitled, True or False
Write True if the answer is correct and False if the answer
is wrong.
________1. A Rectangle is a parallelogram?
________2. A kite is Trapezoid?
________3. A Trapezoid is a quadrilateral?
________4. A Square is quadrilateral?
________5. A Rhombus has four sides and right angles?
IV Evaluation
Direction: Choose the quadrilateral being
describe in each item. Select your answers
from the box.

Square Rectangle
Rhombus
Parallelogram Trapezoid

1 It is a quadrilateral whose opposite are parallel and

equal.
2. It is a parallelogram whose opposite sides and equal
in length. It also has 4 right angles.
3. It is a quadrilateral that has exactly one pair of
parallel.
4. It shares characteristics with both the rectangle and
rhombus. It has 4 equals sides and 4 rigth sides.
5. It is a parallelogram with 4 equal side. It has no right
angles.

V. Assignment:
Using recycled materials like boxes of soap, toothpaste
or any indigenous materials, create any art work applying
your lesson on quadrilateral.
