Ben Morado - Module 5

A literature review demonstrates familiarity with the body of knowledge in a particular field. It integrates and summarizes prior research to show how the current project relates and builds upon past work. The goals of a literature review are to place the research problem in context, demonstrate an understanding of the field, and identify areas where further research is still needed. It is important to carefully evaluate sources before including them in a literature review to ensure they are accurate, objective, current and authored by experts in the field. A strong review establishes the proposed project's relevance and significance.

1.Do you think a research is complete without a review of relevant literature? Why?

Definitely not, because the review of relevant literature serves as the statistical foundation
that builds up the structure of your research that supports the study you are pursuing. Moreover,
the review of related literature must be presented in your research paper for it describes how the
proposed research is related to prior research and statistics. It shows the originality and relevance
of your research problem. It justifies your proposed methodology. It functions as your support
evidences.

2.Why is there a need to evaluate a source of information before including it in your

literature review?

It is for the reason that not all information that is accessible specially from the internet is
credible. We need to evaluate information that we collect as much as possible if it is a legitimate
source thus as it affects how our research would be highly justified. In addition, before deciding
whether or not to incorporate what you have found into your literature review, you need to
evaluate the resources to make sure that they contain information which is valuable and
pertinent. Web resources need more careful thought to ensure their quality.
