Final Mext 2022
The Royal Civil Service Commission is pleased to announce the availability of various scholarships
under the Government of Japan’s MEXT Scholarship Program for the academic year 2022 as
detailed below:
Criteria Requirements
Age Must have been born on or after April 2, 1987 (As required by the
Government of Japan)
Fields of study: Applicants should apply for the field of study they majored in the
university or its related field. Moreover, the fields of study must be
subjects which applicants will be able to study and research in graduate
courses at Japanese Universities.
Note:
● Civil servants applying for the above mentioned programs must fulfill eligibility criteria
prescribed in BCSR 2018: and
● Non-civil servants should route through the Department of Human Resources, MoLHR.

submit.

Government of Japan)
Academics Class XII passed with 65% academic marks (English and relevant
Science, Commerce or Arts Subjects) and at least 70% in Mathematics
No. of scholarships Up to 18
Candidates should submit:
1. Completed Application Form (1 original and 1 copy);
2. Direct Placement Preference form (1 original);
3. Academic transcripts for the past three years along with completion certificate (1 original
and copy);
4. Recommendation Form completed by the Principal or Advisor of the school attended (1
original and 1 copy);
5. Recent passport size photographs;
6. Medical certificate (as per format given)- 1 original and 1 copy
3. Specialized Training College Students (for pre-service candidates only)
Criteria Requirements
Age Must have been born on or after April 2, 1997 (As required by the
Government of Japan)
Academics Class XII passed with 60% in English and relevant subjects
Mode of Selection: Written Test in English, Mathematics & Japanese Language and
Interview
No. of scholarships Up to 18
Note:
● For pre-service candidates who secures the scholarship shall be governed by the general
undertaking (bond) for ex-country undergraduate scholarship (as specified by DAHE) for
the Undergraduate Scholarship.
● Applications are invited from those who fulfill the above criteria along with the following
documents in addition to those mentioned above.
1. Nominating letter from the Ministry/Agency (Civil Servants only)
2. Academic Certificates and Transcripts
3. LTT Review Checklist (Civil servants only)
4. Photocopy of Citizenship ID card (New)
5. Phone number (Mobile)
Important Notes:
1. Only those candidates who are committed to this scholarship should apply. If the
candidate withdraws after the announcement of the interview/selection result, candidate
shall be liable for HR action;
2. Application of recommended candidates will be forwarded to the Japanese Government
for Final Selection. Confirmation of scholarship and date of commencement of course
shall depend on the candidate fulfilling the admission criteria laid down by the Japanese
Universities for securing admission. Award of scholarship will be subject to the approval
of the Government of Japan. Therefore, the candidates are advised not to make major
changes to their home/office life (such as handing over of work, moving out of their house
etc) until the confirmation of scholarship/admission is received from RCSC;
3. The scholarship application should be routed through the applicant’s agency with the
complete sets of documents (for research students)
4. Incomplete documents will not be accepted for the purpose of short listing.
5. Agency should ensure that the relevance of the course and only eligible candidates
(research students) fulfilling requirements are forwarded to HRDD, RCSC on or before the
deadline. In the event any discrepancies are found after the selection, the respective
agency shall be held accountable.
6. For future career progression to Specialist position, Master course should be aligned to
Super Structure.
7. The scholarship for Undergraduate and Specialized Training College Students is subject
to the Written examination.
8. Moreover, the conduct of written examination, Interview and the offer of scholarships
can be changed by the COVID 19 situations in both Bhutan and Japan.
