Mini Quantitative Research

This study examined the daily allowances of 43 Grade 11 piety students at Saint Louis College-Cebu to determine if the amounts were adequate. The average daily allowance was found to be 157 pesos. Most students (39.5%) received between 51-100 pesos daily. While over a quarter agreed their allowance was sufficient, 6.9% received 50 pesos or less, which may not sufficiently cover basic needs. The majority spent most of their allowance on food, transportation, and school supplies.

Assessing the Adequacy of Daily Allowance Provided to Grade 11 Piety Students

I. Introduction

How much money do Grade 11 students require on a daily basis? This is a question that

many parents and students may have, particularly in these times of economic instability and

growing living costs.

Previous studies have explored the relationship between the daily allowance and various

aspects of students’ lives, such as their financial literacy, budgeting skills, spending habits,

saving behavior, debt management, subjective well-being, and academic outcomes. In the

study "Students' Level of Financial Support Satisfaction Towards Their Daily Allowance", for

example, Moneva et al. (2020) examined the level of financial support satisfaction among senior

high school students in relation to their daily allowance and found that most students were

satisfied with their allowance and had a peaceful mind in their financial lives. Cano-og et al.

(2020) investigated the association between school allowance and students’ determination in

studies and found that there was no significant association between them. Students were

determined in their studies regardless of their socioeconomic status or allowance level.

As a case study, this study looks at Grade 11 ABM students at Saint Louis College-

Cebu. The study will gather numerical data on a sample of students' daily allowances. This

research has significance because it will shed light on the financial situation of grade 11 piety

students and how it affects their academic and personal lives. The study will use numbers and

statistics to measure and compare the allowance amounts of students and determine whether

this is enough to cover their expenses. The study's findings will be beneficial to educators, and

parents, concerned with the welfare and development of Piety learners.

II. Statement of Purpose

The purpose of this study is to examine the adequacy of grade 11 ABM learners' daily

allowance in SLC-C. The daily allowance is a common source of income for many students. It

can help them cover their expenses for transportation, food, materials, and other needs while

attending school. However, not all students receive the same daily allowance, and some may

not receive any at all. Therefore, it is important to assess the adequacy of daily allowance

provided to grade 11 piety learners in order to have a better perspective of their financial

challenges and coping mechanisms.

III. Statistical Question/s or (Research Question/s)

parents?

B. How satisfied are grade 11 piety students with their daily allowance?

C. What percentage of Grade 11 Piety students report that their daily allowance is

sufficient to cover their basic needs?

D. How do grade 11 piety students spend their daily allowance?

Daily Allowance Sufficiency Levels of Students

VI. Data Analysis

Based on the data analysis conducted by the researchers, the average daily allowance

of ₱157.00 reflects the typical amount provided by parents to meet their children’s daily

expenses. Additionally, the researchers found that 6.98% of the students receive a daily

allowance of no more than ₱50.00. This information is important as it gives an overall

understanding of the financial resources available to the students. The subset of students with

the lowest daily allowance may have a lower financial capacity, which affects their spending

behavior and financial decision-making. The majority of students (39.53% ) fall within the range

of ₱51.00 to ₱100.00 for their daily allowance. This range represents the most common

allowance bracket, indicating that parents often allocate funds within this range to support their

children’s daily needs. The data also suggests that parents’ provision of allowance should

consider the cost of nutrition and sustenance for their children. It also implies that some
students may have effective financial management skills or lower personal expenses, allowing

them to save or allocate their allowance for other purposes.

Moreover, the researchers delved into the financial management habits of the

students. They discovered that a significant portion of students allocate a substantial portion of

their allowance to food expenses. This finding suggests that food is a primary expenditure for

the Grade 11-Piety students. The researchers also investigated the perception of students

regarding the sufficiency of their allowance for their daily needs. Among the surveyed students,

37% agreed that their daily allowance is more than enough to meet their daily requirements.

The researchers, also provided information about the population mean based on a

sample of 43 students, stating that with 95% confidence, the population mean falls between

7.32 and 9.88. This interval represents the range within which the true population mean is

estimated to lie.

VII. Conclusion

The data analysis of Grade 11-Piety students’ daily allowance provides valuable

insightsinto various aspects of their financial dynamics. The average daily allowance reported by

the students is ₱157.00. Additionally, the researchers found that 6.98% of the students receive a

daily allowance of no more than ₱50.00. Further examining the distribution of daily allowances,

it was observed that the majority of students, accounting for 39.53% of the total, receive a daily

allowance ranging between ₱51.00 and ₱100.00. This range appears to be the most common

among the students surveyed.

The analysis of Grade 11-Piety students’ daily allowance sheds light on the average

amount provided, the distribution of allowances, expenditure patterns (with a focus on food

expenses), students’ perception of sufficiency, and the estimation of the population mean. These

findings offer valuable insights for understanding the financial landscape of these students and
can inform decision-making processes related to students allowances, budgeting, and financial

support programs.
