We use WILL to talk about
A subjective opinion, a promise, a belief
or a threat about the future.

Examples:

Subjective opinion:
I think I’ll go to Spain on my next
vacations.

A promise
I promise I’ll buy the tickets for Spain
tomorrow.

A belief
I believe my dad will give me a surprise.

A threat
You won’t travel if you don’t finish this.
Affirmative:
Subject+ will+ verb+ complement

My dad will give me a surprise.

I will buy the tickets for Spain tomorrow.

Negative:

Subject+ will (not) + verb+ complement

You won’t travel if you don’t finish this.

I won’t travel if I don’t finish my homework.

Remember contractions:

I’ll – won’t you’ll- won’t


He’ll – won’t we’ll- won’t
She’ll- won’t they’ll – won’t
It´ll – won’t
Yes / no questions:
Will + subject + verb+ complement
Will you go to Spain on your next vacations?

Yes, I will.
No, I won´t.

Another possible question:

Do you think you’ll go to Spain on your next


vacations?
Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.

Wh - questions:

Wh -will + subject + verb+ complement?

We use it to talk about:
definite, objective facts and plans in
the future
For example:
Objective fact:
Look at the sky! It’s going to rain
soon.

Plans:
• I’m going to travel to Spain after
my final exams.

• My dad is going to buy the


tickets this weekend.
Affirmative:

Subject+ be going to+ verb+ complement

• I’m going to travel to Spain after my final exams.


• My dad is going to buy the tickets this weekend.

Negative:

Subject+ be(not) going to + verb+ complement

• I am not going to visit any new places this


summer.
• My dad isn’t going to buy tickets to Brazil.

Remember contractions:

I’m – I’m not you’re- aren’t


He’s – isn’t we’re- aren’t
She’s- isn’t they’re – aren’t

events that are already fixed or arranged
on an oficial timetable

For example:

Remember that we use auxiliaries for


negative sentences and question forms.

To talk about plans and decisions for the near
future. It is commonly used with verbs
expressing movement.

For example:

1. I’m leaving to Barcelona tonight.

2. Are you visiting the new museum this


weekend?

3. I’m not travelling next week. It’s


dangerous.

Remember the present progressive form:

Sub+ be+ verbing + time expression (future)

I’m having lunch with my friend tomorrow.


We’re meeting some friends next Friday.
