Proposed problem
• Broken Rail Detection System
• Development a long-range, robust, fail safe, reliable and cost effective
solution for detection of cracked/broken rail by using computer vision, IoT,
and deep learning algorithms.
Solution proposed
• To develop an autonomous mobile robot that can inspect the railway
track for various defects. The mobile robot is driven with computer
vision and deep learning algorithms (part of Artificial intelligence)
that can not only detect but also can predict the possible defects that
can occur in future by means of data collected.
• The robot is intelligent enough to detect the train that is approaching
towards it and is able to self locomote in such a way that it can avoid
the accidents completely and get back to its original position once the
train has passed.

Technical and Operational Feasibility
Technical feasibility
• A survey states that Indian railway has very high technical
infrastructure and its open to test and adopt the latest technologies
for its growth. Hence, The product autonomous mobile robot is
technically feasible to Indian railway since it already has:
• High speed internet connectivity
• High end servers for processing
• Train tracking and monitoring
• Rail Inspection Vehicle
• Ease of upgradability to latest helpful technologies
• Hence the proposed solution is technically feasible since it can be developed
from the existing resources available with Indian railways.
Operational Feasibility
• Indian railway is one of the highly employed government organization
that includes all categories of workers i.e., trackman, Mechanics,
electrical technicians, software management persons therefore the
solution is operationally feasible and can be easily handled with little
training on the robot for its upgradation and maintenance.
• The developed solution will help all segment of individual in
monitoring the track health and smooth movement of trains.
