PRAYER OF CONFESSION God of life and wisdom, we lay before you the idle grumblings that often overtake us. When daily annoyances come, may we be aware enough of your abundance that joy may overcome bitterness. Where we have real complaints, grant us first the grace of selfexamination and then the gifts of careful, honest speech and listening hearts. And when the answer is unexpected like manna instead of the security of slavery, or the last paid first help us discern the signs, wonders, habits, and ways of your coming realm. In Christs name we pray. Amen. WORDS OF ASSURANCE Leader: Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice, says the psalmist. We know our God can bear our confessions, for nothing can separate us from the love of God, which we know in Christ Jesus. In that love, we are forgiven. Let the whole congregation say, People: Amen.
WE PRAY FOR OTHERS The pastor will share prayer requests and the congregation will respond: Lord, hear our prayer. After the prayers have been lifted, we will pray together the Lords Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. OFFERING OUR GIFTS AND PRAYERS Offering envelopes may be found inside front cover of UM Hymnal. A SONG OF PRAISE TO GOD UMH #94

Announcements In response to the wildfires around the Austin area, United Methodists have created a special fund to channel donations from churches to provide disaster relief, and already delivered food, water and supplies to affected areas. Last Sunday $485 was contributed! If you wish to contribute financially, please note wildfires on the memo line of your check (made to Berkeley UMC) or write wildfires on the offering envelope containing cash. Additionally, the Austin District office requests that we track our giving hours, dollars, goods as these gifts can be leveraged toward grants and matching funds for long term recovery. Please email Tara information about any other donations you have made (such as Red Cross, supplies donated, miles driven) so we can report totals to the District office. Thank you.
