Level:Basic
Aim:
Language Functions: At the end of the lesson, students will learn phrases, to greet other people,
introduce themselves and say goodbye.
Structure:
Warm up: Teacher has student form a circle and pass the ball, have each student pass the ball, hold the
ball and say their names. If a student doesn’t pass make sure sh/he does it again until done properly
Time: 10 min.
Presentation:
The teacher stands in front of the class and says Hi, all the students have to see that the teacher is
greeting to everybody. Asks the class to respond the greeting.Repeat the procedure with Hello, greet
everybody alterning Hi/Hello.
Time: 5 min.
Time:10 min.
Practice:
Start this section of the lesson with the ABC song to indicate it”s Alphabet time.
Practice:
Activity 1
Teacher introduces letters. Start with lowercase letters and once mastered your students can move to
the uppercase. Use falshcards and the board. Pass each student to practice.
Time: 10 min.
Activity 2
Teacher has everyone gather around him/her in a circle. Hold up an alphabet letter flashcard as all
students can see it.Teaches the sound and chorus the letter, then asks each students individually to say
the letter.Provide an example of an object that begins with the letter.
Time: 10 min.
Activity 4
Letter touch- Students run to the board and touch the letters.
Find it- teacher hold up a letter flashcard and the student search around the class
Time : 10 min
Activity 4:
Do a letter practice writing. Teacher has each student pass the board and practice writing the letters and
words that begin with that letters.
Activity 5:
The teacher asks students to see the ilustrations. Ask how many children are there and where are they?
Teacher plays the audio and asks the students to do the activity when they have finished, read the
dailogs aloud. After that ask some comprehension questions.
Activity 6:
Teacher asks the students to join the words in their books. Write the words on the board and ask to two
volunteers to go in front to join them.
Activity 7:
Time: 10 min.
Activity 8:
Reproduce the record and after the first word Hello! Instruct the students that they have to repeat all
together. Repeat the procedure with other words. Play the recording. But this time after the words
make pauses and ask some students to repeat individually.
Activity 9:
Write on the board, the words in the exercise 3, form teams. Say a word and instruct that a member of
each team must run to the board and hit the word. The first to do it wins a point for his team.
Activity 10
Give each student a piece of paper. Get each to write their name in the line and then color in their
flower.
Students can now decorate the classroom by sticking their name flowers on the walls. Alternatively have
students make a name poster by sticking all of the name flowers on to one large piece of construction
paper.

Time: 10 min.
Activity 12
Teacher plays with the students “Color pass” “Color Touch” and “Color hold up”. Now take each color
and pass it to your nearest student. Say red as you pass red. The students pass the color round the
circle. Next , lay 3 colors in the middle of the circle. Say “ hands up” Students raise their hands. Then say
“…… “red” and the students for all the colors. Finally give each student one of the colored papers. Say
hold up….. blue the students holding the blue papers raise them into the air.

Activity 13
Games
Concentration – You need two sets of Alphabet flashcards for this game. Place both of them face down
on the floor.
Students take turns in turning over 2 cards (saying the letters around aloud) if the cards match, then the
students keeps the cards. If the cards are different the cards are turned back again in their original
places.
Hot Potato: Write a letter of the Alphabet onto the board. Get a soft ball and throw it to a student. They
must say a word beginning with that letter and then throw the ball back to the teacher or to another
student.
I SPY- teacher says I spy with my little eye something that begins with B. Students try to guess the object.
Activity 14
Teacher asks the students to form a circle . Go to the student on your left and say Hello! What’s your
name. Encourage students to respond, My name is…. (Louis). Instruct the students to ask the same
question to the student on /his/her left until finish again with you.
Time: 10 min
Activity 15
Chant numbers
Display the flashcards of numbers on the board, asks the students to see the numbers. Play the
recording 3 and point each number, according to what it indicates.
Instruct the students to open their books. Play the recording again, make a pause after each number and
invite the students to repeat them.
Play one more time the recording but this time invite all the students to chant.
Activity 16
Show the flashcards of numbers and ask How many? And invite the students to respond One! Turn the
flashcard to show the side of the number and with his trace number one in the air and say One!
Ask the students to do the same, repeat the procedure with the rest of the numbers.
Time: 10 min
Draw three stars on the board and under that write two/three and ask How many? Two? Count aloud,
one, two, three.
Enclosed in a circle the word three. Ask the students to observe the ilustrations in their book. Instruct
them to count and enclosed with the circle the correct word.
WRAP UP
Say Hi and Hello to the students, encourage students to answer in the same way. Hold a color pencil and
ask students to count One! Two! Three!
Ask students some questions about the vocabulary studied during class. Ask students What is your
name? Encourage students to answer My name is Louis.
Show the pencil colors and ask students to repeat the colors as you say each color.
Homework: Teacher assigns students to work in the page 5 of their book, on the Look and glue section.
