CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Computers are used often today in a way that makes tasks quicker and simpler. The demand for
dental care services must keep pace with or at least expand in certain ways relative to existing
methods as the population expands. The clinic owner is looking for alternatives by using new
technologies and techniques to aid the patients because manual operations may no longer be
efficient in handling or accommodating patients. An enterprise called Dental Clinic Appointment
is in charge of giving all different kinds of dental patients’ health medication and care. The rise
of the internet has made people's daily lives increasingly invisible to the network, and technology
has changed many areas of life today. The process is now considerably more effective than it
was with the old method thanks to the online dental clinic appointment system.
The proponents and client would like to create a web base that will make it easier to schedule
appointments and save’s a client information using a clear, transparent, and efficient manner.
Scope
This study focuses on creating a web-based, called dental clinic appointment system that makes
scheduling appointment easier.
Limitation
Only the admin or secretariat would be able to access and manage the patient’s information and
other credentials such as email/address & number of appointments scheduled.
CHAPTER II
2.1.1 Background
2.1.2 Objective
The purpose of this study was to identify the benefits and barriers to implement Web-based
medical scheduling discussed in the literature as well as the unmet needs under the current health
care environment.
2.1.3 Methods & Results
In February 2017, MEDLINE was searched through PubMed to identify articles relating to the
impacts of Web-based appointment scheduling.
A total of 36 articles discussing 21 Web-based appointment systems were selected for this
review. Most of the practices have positive changes in some metrics after adopting Web-based
scheduling, such as reduced no-show rate, decreased staff labor, decreased waiting time, and
improved satisfaction, and so on. Cost, flexibility, safety, and integrity are major reasons
discouraging providers from switching to Web-based scheduling. Patients’ reluctance to adopt
Web-based appointment scheduling is mainly influenced by their past experiences using
computers and the Internet as well as their communication preferences.
2.2 Summary
They Implemented a Web-Based Medical Appointment Scheduling System for their patients &
increasing recognition of patient’s role in health care delivery & design.
2.3 Synthesis
Overall, the literature suggests a growing trend for the adoption of Web-based appointment
systems. The findings of this review suggest that there are benefits to a variety of patient
outcomes from Web-based scheduling interventions with the need for further studies.
CHAPTER III
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
3.1 The proponents have used web-based program. And this project will be available in
computers and laptops.
Html - The language that Web pages are written in. Used to structure a web-page and its
content.
Css - The language for Describing the presentation of web pages, including colors, layout and
fonts.
Database - A system for storing and displaying information that is accessible from the
internet/web.
Xampp 8.1.12 - It is a platform that furnishes a suitable environment to test and verify the
working of projects based on Apache, Perl, MySQL database, and PHP through the system of the
host itself.
3.2 PhpMyAdmin - A portable web application written primarily in PHP. And become one of
the most popular MySQL Administration tools, especially for web hosting services.
CHAPTER IV
4.1 The Agile Methodology is a project management framework that deals with flexible
system projects by developing and testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
It will help to change the priorities of each phase based on the developers' or proponents'
goals and needs. Furthermore, it is a profitable step to complete and improve the system
project with the help of agile method steps.
Plan - The proponents start planning before all to evaluate and gathered information more about
and to have understanding of sequence of constructing this system in appropriate with the
assistance of plans appropriately to reach aims.
Design – After the completion of the planning, the supporters will proceed to create a design
illustration of what the system interface should look like based on the plan that was created, as
well as design expressing easily understandable icons, tables, and more.
Develop – In this phase, it starts to develop and understand the system software to used
according in the planning and designing phases.
Test -This phase is where the proponents will need to test before releasing and where all possible
errors or success of system run will be determined.
Deploy – In this phase, after the previous step this develop, phase may require to find the
improvement of the said project.
Review – After the previous phase, it is said to review that the projected system functions well.
And to improve the functionality of the software development and also to analyze the system and
maintain the project said upgrades.
