1. In a large transnational firm which believed in keeping the firm young, the percentage
of officers below a given age is as per the data given below. Determine the percentage
officers under 35 years.
Age Under 25 years < 30 years < 40 years < 50 years
% of Officers 52.0 67.3 84.1 94.4

2. For a Bivariate data, you are given the following information:


∑ (X – 58) = 46, ∑ (X – 58)2 = 3086, ∑ (Y – 58) =9, ∑ (Y – 58)2 = 483,
∑ (X – 58)(Y – 58)=1095, N = 7
You are required to determine (i) the two regression equations and (ii) the coefficient of
correlation between X and Y series.

3. Given the regression equations:


3X + 4Y = 44, 5X + 8Y = 80, Variance of X = 30, Find 𝑋̅ , 𝑌̅, 𝑟 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝜎𝑦

4. Calculate coefficient of correlation by means of ranking method from the following data:

5. Calculate rank correlation coefficient from the following data:

7. Given that regression equations are:
X = Y and
4X – Y – 3 = 0 and mean of squared X = 2, find coefficient of correlation; S.D (y) and
Covariance of X and Y.
8. The coefficient of rank correlation of marks obtained by 10 students in English and
Mathematics was found to be 0.5. It was later discovered that the difference in ranks in
two subjects obtained by one of the students was wrongly taken as 3 instead of 7. Find
the correct coefficient of rank correlation.
9. The rank correlation coefficient between marks obtained by some students in ‘Statistics’
and Accountancy’ is found to be 0.8. If the total of squares of rank differences is 33, find
the number of students.
10. The following are the nine pairs of values of variable X and Y:
N = 9, ∑X = 45, ∑Y = 135, ∑X2= 285, ∑Y2= 2085, ∑XY= 731, While checking it was found
out that two pairs were copied as:
